Prabal Gurung Fall 2014
DESIGNER: Prabal Gurung
INSPIRATION: Gurung's Nepalese heritage and the remote kingdom of Mustang, which he became fascinated by on a recent trip back to South Asia, informed his aesthetic. Prints and textures were inspired by the work of artist Cecily Brown.
PALETTE: Marigold, crimson, bordeaux, black, gray, and ivory.
TRENDS: Asymmetry, wrapped fabric, embroidery, masterful draping, high slits, hiked hemlines, and the mixing of textures and proportion– soft chiffon micro skirts were paired with big chunky sweaters.
WHO WAS THERE: Karolina Kurkova, Hailee Steinfeld, and Chlesea Leyland
WHO SHOULD WEAR IT: Sexy screen sirens and cool city girls who embrace the elegant and exotic. (Should Amy Adams chose to wear red on Oscar night, we suggest she reach out to Gurung first!)
