Celebrated fashion designer, L'Wren Scott was found dead in her apartment on Monday morning at 10 am, of an apparent suicide.
Scott began her career in the fashion industry all thanks to the suggestion of Bruce Weber, who spotted her. Following her experiences as a model, Scott transitioned into fashion design, creating a first collection called Little Black Dress. Quickly, she amassed celebrity fans who devotedly wore her pieces including Sarah Jessica Parker, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Madonna, Uma Thurman and Michelle Obama. She collaborated with Lancome on a line of beauty products, launched her own perfume at Barneys, and most recently Banana Republic on a holiday collection. She was even rumored to have a hand in creating Angelina Jolie's wedding dress.
The talented model turned designer was forced to cancel her show during London Fashion Week, citing production issues.
Our thoughts go out to her friends and family at this very sad time.
UPDATE:Cathy Horyn wrote a touching tribute to her friend for The New York Times, stating that Scott was to announce that she would close her business after suffering through cash flow problems, finding good managers and production schedule and was to make her decision public just two days after her death.
