Stella McCartney: Resort 2014

Designer: Stella McCartney

Inspiration: The line sought to exhibit “the type of women who would have a snake tattoo,” with pieces “representing that into the most beautiful jacquard of a snake.”

: McCartney once again proves she's a forward thinking designer with her wearable but interesting pieces, each requiring at least a second glance to fully swallow its beauty. Python print played a huge role in the collection, but with the designer's dedication to natural colors and soft materials like silk and duchesse satin, the bold pattern leaned more on the side of whimsical than aggressive. In line with her “Garden Party” presentation, silhouettes and styles were inarguably feminine and proper, but fashioned with an incredibly contemporary eye. Clean lines characterized the collection, from the innovative voluminous drop waist dresses to the more practical knee length coats and bomber jackets. Mod style long sleeved shift dresses, one with three dimentional embellishment, were also a reoccurring trend, as were roomy, tactfully tailored trousers. Not to overlook the details, most looks were finished off with a pair of ballet slipper inspired pumps and a structured tote.

Palette: yellow brown snakeskin, buttercream, ivory, blush, red and navy floral, orange, black and white.

Who Should Wear It: Kate Bosworth, The Man Repeller (Leandra Medine), Naomi Watts, Liv Tyler.
