I just got back from an amazing honeymoon. We spent the last four days of our two-week trip in beautiful Napa Valley, sipping wines and sampling grapes off the vine. It was incredible – just like the food we ate! Seriously, I consumed my weight in good grub... And it was worth all the calories and every single stubborn pound.
My favorite pig-out experience had to be at Yountville's Bistro Jeanty, a Parisian themed eatery with rustic French cuisine. I ordered two apps: beet salad and creamy tomato soup with a pastry topping... And for my entrée: a heaping portion of Beef Bourguignon. Mmmmmm. I savored my monstrous meal with a hearty glass of Cabernet, while silently sitting next to my new hubby (who was busy enjoying the most tender pork shoulder) at the restaurant’s bar… Oh, and we were also watching the movie Julie and Julia. It was playing in the background, and we couldn’t tear our eyes away. My Beef Bourguignon literally was presented at the exact moment Julie starts preparing that exact dish. (Wonder if they planned it that way!) Dinner and a movie -- what a fun and yummy honeymoon date night we had!
Anyway, here's my challenge for you (actually, it’s Sterling’s challenge!)… Invite some friends over for a wine + foodie movie night. Serve up a bottle of Sterling Napa Valley Merlot or Sauvignon Blanc and throw a fabulous movie-themed fete complete with a perfectly paired menu, silver-screen activities, and cinematic conversation starters. Then, head on over to Sterling's facebook page and upload your videos, pictures, and ideas. You could be selected to fly to New York City to face off in a live grand-finale competition with three other haute hostesses. (And guess what?! I’m one of the judges!)
