Southampton was the place to see and be seen as celebrities journeyed to upstate New York for Super Saturday. The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund’s 16th annual Super Saturday benefit was hosted by Kelly Ripa, Donna Karan and InStyle magazine, while bold names in the fashion and entertainment industry like Girls star Zosia Mament, Ali Wentworth, Kim Kardashian’s publicist and bestie Jonathan Cheban, Kelly Rutherford (who brought her dog), Kim Raver, Christa Miller, Joy Behar, Michael Strahan’s fiancè Nicole Murphy, Star Jones, June Ambrose, Aida Turturro, Issac Mizrahi, Nicky Hilton, Howard Stern’s wife Beth Stern, Fern Mallis, Sandra Lee, Amy Carlson, and ovarian cancer survivor Diem Brown.

In addition to kids’ carnival, luxury raffle and gourmet treats were on hand to keep youngsters and adults entertained.
It isn’t hard see why this event would be a hit; with offerings like the above it was hard to resist! Samantha Daniels, celebrity matchmaker and president of Samantha’s Table, has been attending Super Saturday since 2000. She began coming as a volunteer, once working the Valentino booth, and afterward was allowed to buy a pale pink handbag for $50 that she still owns to this day. This is just one of many fond Super Saturday memories for her: “I discovered Christina Perrin for the first time. I wound up buying 2 floor length beaded skirts for $75 each when they retailed for over $2000. And I found myself chatting with the designer that day. She invited me to her showroom thereafter and I wound up doing a photo shoot for the New York Times! It doesn’t stop there; the same year that Daniels’ best friend won two sets of golf clubs and a weekend getaway at a golf resort, she won a trip for two to London, including airfare, a two night hotel say and a digital camera! A security guard, who I spoke with as I recharged on a gourmet buffet, told me that she purchased 3 Michelle watches and two handbags. “My mom’s birthday is coming up, guess what she’s getting,” she told the table in between bits of savory lamb chops.
The hot ticket items for the day? DVF wrap dresses, DNKY wedge shoes, fragrances at the Saks Fifth Avenue booth, any and everything C. Wonder—the table was completely wiped clean.
Karan summed the day up perfectly, “You know what's really beautiful about all this? Is that this is everything I'm about: philanthropy and commerce. You know, dressing and addressing the issues at hand–conscious consumerism.” Precisely why I didn't mind one woman basically breaking my arm to take off my arm band as I exited the fair ground. “I just want to do a little shopping,” she said.
