After years at The International New York Times,Suzy Menkesis leaving her position to join Conde Nast International. Menkes will be a fashion critic, reporter and have a “permanent presence” on all Vogue websites in international markets, Business of Fashion is reporting. Her official title is International Vogue editor at Conde Nast International.
“I think it’s tremendously exciting to start a new life, to extend my career,” Menkes told BOF. I’ve been so happy for so many years at The International New York Times, but you know, there’s nothing like change. Fashion is all about change. So, the fact that Jonathan Newhouse has given me this chance to take my skills to Conde Nast, I think it’ll be very exciting for me.”
Menkes, 70, was the style editor of The International New York Times for 25 years and is the third exit from the publication’s fashion and style section. Eric Wilsonleft for InStyle last October and most recently, Cathy Horynleft in February.
“Suzy’s in the prime of her creative and critical life,” said Jessica Michault, editor-in-chief of Nowfashion.com who worked with Menkes for 16 years. “Everybody says they’re passionate about fashion, but it really is true with Suzy.”
We’re anxious to see how Menkes’ absence will affect The International New York Times but excited to see what she will accomplish in her new role.
