My lunch break is usually not all that exciting. I'll order in a salad, stop by Subway, or slurp a cup of soup at my desk. But last week I took a break from the everyday eats, and tried some of the best food New York City has to offer at Epicurious Entertains NYC. The fabulous foodie event featured scrumptious samples from a few of the most innovative restaurants and food trucks in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Feast your eyes on these tasty morsels and tempting tidbits... (Much more below the fold!)
Asia Dog handed out samples of this sweet-and-savory frank. Topped with a crunchy mango-cucumber salsa, it's unique and delicious... and not your average NYC dirty-water dog.
How amazing does this sandwich from Fort Defiance look? Loaded with Italian meats, cheese, veggies, and vinaigrette, I can tell you that it's definitely worth the trip to Brooklyn.
Pork + Sour Dough Bread = Perfection from Porchetta.
Clearly I'm a fan of meat (see above three pics!) but the delightful veggie dishes from Mimi's Hummus are surprisingly tasty. These grape leaves explode with flavor.
... and I went back for seconds of Mimi's famous cauliflower salad.
These mini tacos from La Esquina are muy bien.
I kinda fell in love with the name of this restaurant... It had me at hello.
I'm a sucker for a good buffalo chicken sandwich. Swap out a roll for a biscuit, and I'm in pig heaven.
... and then finish with a slice of pie? It doesn't get better than that.
Unless of course you also have mini cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. They're too cute for words. The rainbows were my fave!
And red velvet whoopie pies from One Girl Cookies? ... Need I say more?!?
