Yes, you read that headline right. First Daughter Malia Obama is getting a taste of Tinseltown, thanks to a one-day gig on Halle Berry’s summer seriesExtant.
The 15-year-old was spotted on set of the Los Angeles production last week where she “helped with computer shop alignments and the director also let her slate a take,” a source told The Wrap. We’re sure the Commander-in-Chief had a hand in nabbing Obama credentials; it was Barack Obama who revealed his eldest daughter’s Girls obsession and filmmaking goals, after all. Couple that with the fact that the sci-fi thriller’s executive producer Steven Spielberg is a major Obama donor, and you have the makings of the coolest internship ever.
Extant will follow Berry as an astronaut who returns home after a year-long mission in outer space, inexplicably pregnant. Sounds a bit like The Astronaut’s Wife 2.0 —we’re sold. There’s no word on how much more involvement Obama will have with the series—her PA cred coincided with the President’s commencement speech at the University of California Irvine on June 14—but something tells us Air Force One is on standby.
Extant, starting Berry, Goran Visnjic, Pierce Gagnon, and Camryn Manheim, will premiere on CBS on July 9.
