For nine years, VH1 has interrupted its regularly-scheduled programming to broadcast artists You Ougtha Know. This November, the network will bring its 2014 class of notable new acts together for one epic night in New York City.
Nicole Richie will assume hosting duties on November 13 as Sam Smith, Aloe Blacc, A Great Big World, CHVRCHES, and seven other performers convene on the Hammerstein Ballroom stage. The spree will not only include live renditions of the rosters’ breakout hits, but also exclusive collaborations, covers, and short documentaries chronicling their road to stardom. If it follows in the tradition of last year’s inaugural You Oughta Know concert, there may even be a major forecast at hand.
“Our You Oughta Know franchise has an excellent track record of identifying the best new artists in music before they hit it big,” president of VH1 Tom Calderone said in a statement. “For example, Lorde performed at our first-ever You Oughta Know concert last year before she won Song Of The Year at the Grammy Awards three months later. Who knows how many future legends we have in this year’s line-up of 11 amazing artists?”
Smith and company also join an impressive set of You Oughta Know alum, including Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons, Sia, Leona Lewis, Foster the People, Gotye, Sara Bareilles, Corinne Bailey Rae—who’ve earned a combined 35 Grammy nominations and seven wins to date.
