Let's get real: it isn't officially fall until you can finally get your hands on a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks. This year, however, the PSL has to share the spotlight with a new seasonal drink from the brand: PSL, meet your new BFF, the MPL.
The Starbucks Maple Pecan Latte is scheduled to make it's debut on Sept. 22. The espresso drink is bursting with fall-approved flavors, including notes of maple syrup, pecan, and brown butter — and because you can't drink your new seasonal favorite out of any old green cup, the brand is also rolling out their brand-new fall cups, just in time for the debut of the MPL. (When you see the new hues pop up on Instagram you can't say we didn't warn you).
Starbucks was quick to offer up some insight behind the new beverage. “Our espresso shot is the core of our handcrafted beverages,” Debbie Antonio, a member of the Starbucks Beverage Research and Development team, says in a press release from the brand. “The flavors of maple and pecan perfectly balance the inherent sweet and nutty flavors of espresso. The result is a smooth and well-rounded handcrafted beverage that customers can personalize to truly make theirs.”
Now that you know what to expect when you take your first sip of the new beverage, we have to discuss the colorful new cups. On the heels of the success of the bold and bright spring styles, the fall cups will be available in trendy jewel-tones, like plum, teal, and orange, with a different color assigned to each size: tall, grande, and venti. The cups will be available for a limited time in the United States and Canada…and after the new fall favorites complete their run, we know it's officially time to usher in the holidays, AKA, #RedCup season.
