Sabrina Soto is a lifestyle expert, interior designer, television personality, and mother to her daughter, Olivia. She once welcomed Glam into her home for a tour of the West Hollywood loft, decorated with modern furnishings and antique accents.
“I live in a very modern loft,” she says, standing in her living room. “There are no doors in my entire place.”
Soto’s home is open with very few walls separating the different spaces. This means that the designer has to get creative when it comes to storage. “Everything has to be dual purpose,” Soto says. In the living room, she has wall-to-wall cabinets and her coffee table has open sides where she keeps books.
Soto’s favorite piece in her living space is a painting by Michio Takayama that she bought from an estate sale. “I bought it years ago when I got my first real big check,” Soto says. “I’ve been a fan of his for so many years, but I never thought I would ever be able to own my own piece.”
Despite the fact that Soto has a modern house, she isn’t afraid to decorate with antique pieces. She also enjoys D.I.Y. projects to give her furniture the feel that she really wants in her home. The table in her dining room used to be a dark wood, but she sanded it down to give it a rich walnut color.
Her favorite room in the loft, though, is her kitchen, because she loves to cook and entertain. The two pieces in her kitchen that couldn’t live without are her Vitamix blender, which she uses to make soups, ice creams, and juices, and her Nespresso machine, which she uses to make chocolate espresso martinis for guests.
And, instead of a standard bathroom, Soto has a wet room. “It’s actually one room with a drain in the floor, a toilet, and a shower head,” she explains. “This is a good solution if you have a really small bathroom, but you need that extra shower.”
The last stop on Soto’s house tour is her office, which is above the first floor. This is where she works on her projects, including her office line for Michael’s. “I like just being up here,” she says, “getting creative.”
