The Inappropriate Fashion Fail Blake Lively Actually Admitted To Making

Blake Lively is known all over the world as an A-list actor and style maven. Her role as the iconic Serena van der Woodsen on "Gossip Girl" seems to have influenced her in real life and turned the starlet into a fashionista. Throughout her career, Blake Lively has stunned at the Met Gala, also rocking couture made by top designers to other red-carpet events. But even the most stylish celebs can't hide from a bad wardrobe mishap.

While promoting the film "It Ends With Us" in August 2024, Lively trotted around New York in a variety of bold street styles — but had an embarrassing mixup with one outfit in particular. Lively was seen in a sheer jeweled top paired with jeans and peeking up from her pants was the logo of her Versace underwear. Oddly, the logo was backwards, making it obvious that Lively had worn her underwear inside out! The ensemble was one of the most inappropriate outfits Blake Lively has ever worn, and her silly mistake made it seem like her knowledge of fashion was long gone.

The next day, Lively wore the outfit again and came clean to fans and paparazzi. "I wore this yesterday, but I wore my underwear inside out," she said in a video caught by Getty. "I wore it wrong, and I can't do that to Versace." She called her second attempt "round two of the outfit, but accurate," and tried to explain herself by saying, "I was in a hurry."

Blake Lively corrected herself at the It Ends With Us red carpet

Blake Lively wasn't going to have her stunning style transformation tarnished by an unfortunate underwear faux pas. She was determined to do right by Versace and made up for the "fashion don't" at the red carpet premiere of "It Ends With Us." Lively walked the carpet in an eye-catching and colorful flowing Versace dress. The one-shoulder dress looked like a work of art with pastel colors of blue and purple florals throughout. Gold accents covered the gown to make a playful pattern of beautiful tones, all in a super-flattering silhouette.

If the gown looks familiar, that's because it's been seen on another blond beauty! The dress was famously worn by Britney Spears back in 2002. "It is Britney's actual dress," Lively told People. "It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met. But it's on me. I feel so lucky!" Lively said that she wanted to pay tribute to Spears with the dress choice. She also mentioned how she felt the gown's butterfly design resonated with her "It Ends With Us" character Lily and her journey throughout the film. Lively's character in the film works at a flower shop, which surely was another reason why the dress felt like the right choice.
