Ivanka Trump's Questionable Birthday Party Outfit Will Always Haunt Her

It's no surprise that Hollywood's biggest names run around in common circles. But Ivanka Trump raised some eyebrows when she posted a birthday message to another well known rich girl: Kim Kardashian. It turns out that the eldest Trump daughter has created quite the lasting adult friendship with the famous Kardashian daughter. The two women have a lot in common as they have both spent their adult lives in the spotlight. They've surely bonded over their complicated family dynamics and their experience as mothers raising multiple kids. For Kardashian's birthday in 2024, Ivanka posted multiple photos on her Instagram Stories of the two smiling side by side at different events, per Hola!. She captioned the photos by sweetly saying, "You are a kind and caring friend. Here's to celebrating you today and always!"

If only the outfit she wore to the previous year's festivities was equally as sweet. Ivanka posted a pic from Kardashian's birthday celebration in 2023, where the women posed alongside Lydia Kives, Lauren Sánchez, and Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen. Kardashian wore a sultry red cutout dress with a mermaid skirt while the other girls wore black dresses in varying styles. Ivanka missed the memo and wore an ivory outfit that didn't flatter her at all. The matching crop top and skirt were in a tired sequined material that looked dingy with its uneven lines. Even the high slit down Ivanka's skirt made her appear boxy as she paired the misguided outfit with boring shoes. Ivanka should know better than to show more skin than Kardashian in a sexy bustier.  

When Ivanka Trump is asked to dress down, she often fumbles and ends up with uneven fashion. In her birthday tribute to Kim Kardashian, Ivanka posted a pic of the two backstage at a Las Vegas event, which she originally posted in December 2023. Kardashian wore a sheer black sweater dress while Ivanka Trump wore an outfit that just didn't impress: a gown made up of a loose strapless black top and a long metallic skirt that fell to the ground. The dark top and shiny bottom made for unfortunate color blocking. Ivanka appeared weighted down by the sequined skirt which made her black top look like it was slipping and could've used some straps. What should have been a fun party dress was disjointed with its varying textures and felt cold against Ivanka's soft blond curls. The outdated Y2K style of the dress made her look older and out of touch with current trends.

Even Ivanka's attempts at formal wear have fallen flat. Her unfortunate outfits seem to have inspired Kardashian's wardrobe for a 2019 White House visit. The friends matched in draped tailored suits and lifeless straight bob hairstyles. But their attempt to "twin" with each other felt eerie and frigid. The pair looked washed out in matching minimal makeup which consisted of eye liner and nude lip color. Since then, it appears that Kardashian has relied solely on her own fashion sense, making it clear that the Ivanka-esque wardrobe didn't do their friendship any good.
