The outfits that Ivanka Trump has worn have seemed to carry special meanings, so onlookers have speculated that the first daughter may not be above sending out a subtle message. And now, her reading list may be showing the world that she isn't afraid to defy her father. In early June 2025, the president's eldest daughter posted a carousel of photos from her week in Miami, which included her hitting the town with her influencer friends, going out in the boat with her sons, and her latest read. One pic showed Ivanka holding up the book "Untamed" by Glennon Doyle. Doyle is an outspoken opponent of President Donald Trump.
This isn't the first time Ivanka's reading material has raised questions about where her loyalties lie. In April 2025, she posted photos of her family vacation in Costa Rica, which included her reading material: "The Women" by Kristin Hannah, "Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow" by Gabrielle Zevin, and "The Tell" by Amy Griffin. Hannah's novel has strong feminist themes in it, Zevin's novel features gay characters, and Democratic Senator Cory Booker called Amy Griffin a friend on Facebook. All of those ideas seem to clash with what Donald Trump promotes, which makes us wonder what Ivanka truly thinks about some of her father's views.
If you're a fan of Glennon Doyle, you'll know she's not a fan of Donald Trump
The book that Ivanka Trump promoted on her Instagram account, "Untamed" by Glennon Doyle, is the author's best-selling book, published in 2020. The book follows Glennon's path through addiction, abortion, the Christian church, divorce, and ultimately into a lesbian relationship. The popularity of the book prompted Glennon to start the "We Can Do Hard Things" podcast with her wife, soccer pro Abby Wambach, and her sister Amanda Doyle. The project has earned positive reviews and could be ranked as one of the top mental health podcasts that can help fuel healing. Glennon and Wambach are incredibly active gay-rights supporters and frequently invite guests on their podcast to discuss issues in that arena.
The three hosts are also ardent liberals and democratic candidate supporters. They've had the likes of Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Elizabeth Warren on their show. Amanda Doyle also discusses the Trump-o-sphere frequently with political reporter Jessica Yellin. You get the idea — these people could not be more vocal about their dislike of Donald Trump if they tried. So the idea of Ivanka Trump reading, and by default recommending, "Untamed" has raised more than a few eyebrows and attracted a fair share of backlash. One user wrote on Ivanka's post: "Positive @glennondoyle is repulsed by you and your support for your bigoted father." That support, however, might be questionable.
