The Major Hair Transformation Nicole Kidman Regrets
Award-winning actor Nicole Kidman is an unstoppable force. Not only is the "Babygirl" star one of the top actors in Hollywood, she is also widely regarded for her unparalleled beauty. It's easy to recognize her Australian accent and her long blond hair. Sometimes Kidman wears her hair straight and sleek, while other times it flows with bouncy curls that she often styles in an updo. She is a big fan of wigs and often wears light-blond ones that pair perfectly with her pale skin. But in Hollywood where trends are always changing, even Kidman has experienced doubts about her appearance. Nicole Kidman's real-life hair is naturally curly, but the actor chose to style it straight in the early years of her career.
Now she looks back at those days and wonders why she made the decision to ditch her curls. In an interview with Allure, Kidman expressed the love she has for her natural tresses which she proudly wore in the 1990 movie "Days of Thunder." She questioned her decision to change her hair type after the film, asking, "Why did I straighten my hair? I loved my hair there. That is my natural hair. Isn't that crazy?" You can count Kidman's straightened locks among the drastic hair changes that celebs admit they regret. She advised against making the decision that she made in the past and celebrated her authentic ringlets. "So for all the little girls out there — embrace the curl. Do not follow in my steps and straighten your hair," Kidman insisted.
Nicole Kidman treats her curls with love
By the mid-1990s, Nicole Kidman had gotten accustomed to straightening her tight curls, even wearing long pin-straight blond locks to the 1993 Golden Globes. But becoming a mom made Kidman look at the hair that she was born with in a new light. While speaking with Allure, Kidman shared that her "Days of Thunder" curly hairstyle resembles how her own daughters wear their tresses nowadays. Her second-eldest daughter, model Sunday Rose Urban, has joined her famous mom at events and red carpets where the two have twinned with matching wavy locks.
After wearing wigs regularly and opting for sleek straight hair for years, her curls aren't what they once were; she referred to her hair back in 2016 on "The Graham Norton Show" as "dreadful," explaining that her curls had become frizzy after too much straightening. But in the more recent Allure feature, she revealed that she can still activate her natural curls in the right circumstances. "When you blow dry and scrunch your hair, the curl comes back in abundance. I can do that to my hair still, but it needs to be kind of humid and I need to use the right product." She added that the humid temperature on the set of "Days of Thunder" was perfect for bringing out her authentic curl type.
Kidman isn't the only celebrity that is embracing her real hair. In recent years, Ariana Grande and Sarah Hyland have show off their gorgeous natural curls with confidence. And by the way that Kidman has been raving about the hairstyle, this could be the beginning of a curly hair renaissance!
