Karoline Leavitt's Inappropriate Christmas Party Outfit Will Always Haunt Her
Karoline Leavitt has served as the White House Press Secretary since Donald Trump took office in January 2025. Since then, her style has faced loads of scrutiny, mostly because of the ill-fitting, muted silhouettes and outfits normally worn by Karoline Leavitt that make her seem so much older. Some are pointing this out as one of the red flags in Karoline Leavitt's marriage to Nicholas Riccio, who is 32 years her senior. In one particular instance, though, her outfit was a little too risqué for what the event called for (before she was married, no less).
At the White House Christmas Party in December 2020, Leavitt decided on a figure-hugging red sequined dress with a plunging neckline. The dress itself looks nice on Leavitt, but it seems like she might've mistaken the White House for a club. Not only that, but 2020 as a whole was an extremely destructive year, with the COVID-19 pandemic running rampant around the world, and it didn't really seem like the proper time for Leavitt to put on her sparkly dancing dress (and a gaudy spray tan, if we may add) when the world was in a state of somber reflection.
Additionally, Leavitt's glam factor could have used some work as well; her face didn't match the rest of her skin tone, and her concealer wasn't blended well. On the other hand, maybe Karoline Leavitt should just consider going makeup-free. No matter what route she takes, she's due for a style tune-up.
A more appropriate dress for the event later made its way to Karoline Leavitt's closet
Here at Glam, we're not just going to tell you what not to wear to a certain event without offering some alternative options, and believe it or not, there was a dress Karoline Leavitt wore to her best friend's wedding in February 2023 that would have worked perfectly at the 2020 White House Christmas party instead of the sparkly red number. It was an adorable velvet LBD, and would have been much better suited for an event to cap off a hard year, while still fitting with the season. However, as we all know, that didn't happen. Leavitt has learned her lesson, though, as her wardrobe drastically changed from that moment forward.
As mentioned previously, Leavitt has faced an immense amount of criticism for her drab and geriatric ensembles. For instance, in March 2025, she posted a photo to Instagram celebrating that she had reached 1 million followers. In the pic, she's wearing a monochrome outfit in baby blue, a midi dress with a plissé skirt, and a matching cardigan buttoned at the top. Many called her out for this look, one writing, "And she's only 27!?? She looks 47." Another added, "[You] look like the top of a cupcake. Seriously, please take some style advice." If only she could find a happy medium.
