What The Ladies Of The Today Show Look Like Makeup-Free

The hair, the makeup, the clothes — they're all expected components of being a television presenter. So, seeing TV personalities, who are often part of our daily lives, without their usual uniform on can almost be jarring, making us do a double-take. Yet it's also refreshing to see these women without a drop of foundation, zero swipes of mascara, and not a lick of lipstick on. Why? It makes them more relatable. Also, we like that they give their complexions a bit of breathing space. Because as we all know, there are benefits for your skin when you ditch makeup, including a reduction in cosmetic-related acne and an improved skin barrier.

We've seen what Megyn Kelly looks like without makeup and what a zero-makeup Laura Ingraham looks like. There are also pictures of her Fox News co-anchors when they go makeup-free, but how about the ladies of the "Today" show? What do Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Hager Bush, Laura Jarrett, and Dylan Dreyer look like when they aren't preened for morning programming? Naturally beautiful, in our opinion.

One of the reasons many Americans invite "Today" host Savannah Guthrie into their homes every weekday morning is because of her upbeat, intelligent personality, as well as her relatability. She furthers that relatability when she posts makeup-free photos of herself on her social media. One example was a 2020 pic of her snuggling with her two children, Vale and Charley. (She was 48 at the time, and the kids were 6 and 4, respectively.)

Guthrie has posted a number of photos of herself without hair and makeup done, and has even commented on it to Today Parents. After she posted a makeup-free photo of her at the birth of daughter Vale, followers made note. "Honestly, it didn't even cross my mind to have fixed-up hair and makeup. I figured everyone would be looking at little Vale, anyway," Guthrie said at the time. "Those pics were taken in the hospital room a few hours after she was born, so the only makeup I'm wearing is joy!"

When Jenna Bush Hager isn't hosting "Today with Jenna and Friends," or recommending the best Read with Jenna book club picks, former President George Bush's daughter is a mother to three kids: Mila, Poppy, and Hal, whom she shares with husband Henry Chase Hager.

Shortly following the birth of her son Hal in 2019, friend and co-worker Savannah Guthrie posted a photo of herself visiting Bush Hager and the newborn in the hospital. The pic showed a completely makeup-free Bush Hager, which frankly, seems natural after birthing a child, despite the controversial "birthing makeup" trend that went viral on TikTok in 2023. Guthrie isn't merely a supportive co-worker that went to visit her friend and new baby after his birth; she's actually Hal's godmother, Bush Hager revealed in 2020.

Laura Jarrett co-anchors "Saturday Today," as well as serving as the senior legal correspondent on NBC News. But it's not all work all the time for this Harvard Law graduate. She and husband Tony Balkissoon took some time out in August 2024 to share some downtime with their kids, James and June.

Jarrett posted a photo of the foursome in a pool at Martha's Vineyard, which showed off her natural hair and makeup-free face. One user commented, "Laura, your kiddos are so beautiful. They must take after their beautiful mama." Another wrote, "Wait. You have curly hair." That's right, folks. Add Laura Jarrett to the list of celebrities who look just as gorgeous with their natural hair. We'd love to see more of this when she's anchoring "Today," mixed up with the blown-out straight looks that she usually favors. 

"Today" watchers know Dylan Dreyer as the upbeat weather correspondent and co-host of the show's third hour. She's also known for her stylized beauty looks, especially her sleek blond bob and noticeable makeup, which falls somewhere between polished and subtle glam.

Like her co-stars, however, she isn't afraid to de-glam for fans. For example, she filmed a cooking segment making gluten-free food with her son Calvin, who has celiac disease, which later aired during "Today" in 2023. Instead of her usual polished hair and makeup, she wore a simple unfussy ponytail and no makeup. She also posted a photo of herself with her dad for a 2025 Father's Day tribute, where she is noticeably makeup-free. It's definitely a look she can pull off, with her flawless complexion and beaming smile. Dreyer is further proof that you can look fresh faced when you don't have makeup on.
