The Tacky Shoes That Ruined Lauren Boebert's 2024 Election Victory Outfit

Given that Lauren Boebert ran for Congress on a Donald-Trump-is-faultless platform, it's no surprise that she chose to bake her allegiance into her victory outfit after winning her 2024 primary election. However, the Colorado representative chose to do this in a tacky way, even by her standards. And considering Lauren Boebert's history of inappropriate outfits, that's saying a lot. Debate all you want about taste, but one thing is undeniable: Wearing a counterfeit is gaudy.

Boebert showed up wearing a fake pair of Trump's "Never Surrender" limited-edition sneakers, which launched in February 2024. The originals were red-soled, gold-plated, and stamped with a massive "T" for Trump, plus a tiny American flag detail. Each sold for $399. The only thing worse than overdone gold-plated sneakers is fake gold-plated sneakers worn with a dress. Boebert, of course, tried to laugh off the questions with a dismissive comment. "These are very China, but I'm OK with that," she told reporters (via New Republic). "If I could've bought the OGs, I would have."

The outfit was bad enough since wearing sneakers with dresses is low-key distasteful. However, it's even worse because wearing fakes pushes the weird message that designer labels are so important that it's better to wear a counterfeit than to buy something original and authentically you within your budget. As the icing on the cake, Trump's sneaker brand sued a company that made fakes of the shoes just days after Boebert wore them.

Lauren Boebert constantly ignores the basic rules of professional dressing

The rest of Lauren Boebert's outfit didn't do justice to her position, either. Considering it was a professional political event, there were surely better choices than a super-casual dress. Worse still, she chose to pair it with an eyesore of a hat, which was yet another homage to Donald Trump that made her look more like a high-school student than an important political figure. The fake shoes, matching gold hat, and super-casual dress give credence to the critics who have accused her of wearing inappropriate outfits.

Unfortunately, this fashion fail isn't an isolated incident. There are many ways to come off as unprofessional with an outfit, and the congresswoman has seemingly tried them all. Lauren Boebert wore an inappropriate black minidress on multiple occasions, as well as an outfit with a short skirt on the campaign trail. One of the most eye-straining examples came during a 2023 meeting with Gunnison County Commissioner Liz Smith. Boebert showed up wearing a pink tank top and jeans, a combination that is as casual as it gets.

Beyond the sheer inappropriateness of the outfit, the tank top itself doesn't even flatter her frame. It's too tight and is made from thin, stretchy fabric that clings without offering any structure. Instead of smoothing or supporting, it highlights bra lines and accentuates everything in a way that looks unpolished. It's almost as if she set out to defy every rule of business casual dressing. But at least there weren't any fakes in sight this time.
