Lauren Sánchez's Inappropriate Outfit At Her Children's Book Launch Will Always Haunt Her

For whatever reason — we'll leave it to the experts and psychologists to determine what that is — Lauren Sánchez consistently arrives in public looking inappropriate. We're still thinking about the bra-under-blazer outfit that landed her on the list of worst-dressed attendees at the Trump inauguration, along with the provocative red dress she wore to the White House, which was definitely one of Lauren Sánchez's most inappropriate outfits yet.

But one of the inappropriate outfits that will always haunt her is the sheer top she wore to the launch of her children's book. That's right. Even Mrs. Jeff Bezos didn't cover herself adequately as she promoted her book "The Fly Who Flew to Space." For the December 2024 event, she wore magenta trousers, paired with a coordinating sheer top over a camisole.

The look didn't go unnoticed by followers. One wrote under her since-deleted Instagram post showing off the look: "I really love you, but that shirt is not appropriate for a kids bookstore or promoting a kids book. I have a son and I don't know if I'd feel comfortable having him meet you with that shirt." Another added: "The shirt though not a good look for a children's book store."

There were more appropriate outfit options for Lauren Sánchez

Aside from being a children's book author, Lauren Sánchez is an accomplished helicopter pilot and former journalist. But her achievements often get overlooked by her appearance, whether that's fair or not. We do think when it comes to an event with children, dressing demurely feels like it should be a given, however.

And we know that low-key is in the author's wheelhouse. We've seen what Lauren Sánchez looks like makeup-free and we'd love to see her embrace the quiet luxury trend more often. Instead of a cleavage-revealing sheer top, she could have worn a refined crew-neck sweater like the one she wore before her launch into space. Or the brown T-shirt and wide-leg jeans she wore to another reading of her book. When she posted this look, prior to deleting every picture on her Instagram and replacing them with her wedding photos, the comments were all about her accomplishment, not what she was wearing.
