The Worst-Dressed Celebs On Fourth Of July Weekend 2025

To many, Fourth of July weekend is the official kick off of summer. People of all ages dress in their favorite red-white-and-blue outfits to celebrate, with a lot of folks spending the day in the sun, either in a backyard or on the beach. Unfortunately, a lot of celebs showed off their American pride while simultaneously ignoring all fashion logic. To put it plainly, big names in Hollywood and Washington, D.C. alike couldn't nail the Americana motif.

The key to a good Fourth of July ensemble is tradition and function. The sun is typically blazing, so the best thing to do is pick an outfit that will feel breezy and won't make you overheat. Colors of the American flag take center stage, making this holiday a great time to play with color-blocking, though you certainly don't have to. Varying shades and tones of red, white, and blue provide a wide canvas of ways to wisely utilize the color trio, and the celebratory nature encourages playful patterns that include shine and glitter to match the holiday's festive sparklers. But year after year, some just can't get it right. If this is any indication of what the rest of this summer will look like, these celebs would be smart to embrace the many classic trends that are staging comebacks in 2025.

Lara Trump overdressed for a day of outdoor activities

President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law spent the Fourth of July outside with family, but she must've missed the memo about dressing for a day of fun. Lara Trump decided to wear a boring white scoop neck dress. The fabric appeared to have a ribbed texture, which made the entire outfit look wrinkled. Her formal dress looked really out of place among her friends and family, who were dressed much more casually. She accessorized with a thick watch and a few chunky bracelets that felt like a misguided attempt at loud luxury.

Kylie Jenner's Fourth of July outfit was too much on the eyes

Kylie Jenner spent the Fourth of July out of the country in France and wore a bikini top with matching capri pants and a casual tote. The outfit was covered in a black print with tiny, white polka dots throughout. While the classic color combination and adorable pattern are beloved, so many small polka dots look chaotic and make the pattern appear overwhelming. Kylie's addition of the pants and an accessory in the same design took it overboard. Larger polka dots would've created more balance and made Jenner look more mature.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders dressed too matronly for the holiday

If we had one less for former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, it would be that even the most dedicated of moms can carve out their own sense of style. For Independence Day, she wore a white tank top with a baby-blue button-up and matching slacks. She tried to accessorize with simple black sunglasses and thick gold hoop earrings, but the frumpy look just screamed "tired mom." She continued with the Americana color scheme the following day, pairing a navy-blue peasant top with bright-red shorts and white sneakers. We agree that this minimalist sneaker trend works with almost every outfit, but the rest of the 'fit has to do some heavy lifting, too!

Jennifer Lopez failed to balance casual and flashy on the Fourth of July

Jennifer Lopez tried to show off her sweet tooth by posing with themed red-white-and-blue cupcakes on the Fourth of July. She took a selfie wearing a lackluster light-gray crop top, but made it clear that the moment was anything but candid. Her hair extensions with big, blond highlights became the focal point, and her eyebrows were done up to perfection. The "Hustlers" star's lips were covered in shine and liner as if she was about to walk a red carpet. She even donned a huge silver necklace spelling out "Jennifer" across her neck. We just would've liked to see her top match the rest of her glam.

Karoline Leavitt's red Fourth of July dress did her no favors

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt showed loyalty to her political party over the Fourth of July weekend by wearing a number of red outfits. She went from a red dress to a red bikini on the beach, even wearing red pants to a ballgame with a casual black tank top. But Leavitt is proof that monochromatic looks are outdated and can feel overdone. It's time for Leavitt to experiment with new colors or, at the very least, try using her favorite red as an accent. Even a different type of fabric or material would add balance to her looks. After all, this dress material bunched up in the back.

Brittany Mahomes needed a spare change of clothes over the holiday weekend

All aboard! Brittany Mahomes and footballer husband Patrick Mahomes spent the holiday with friends on a large yacht. Brittany wore a blue one-piece bathing suit with a halter neck and ribbing up the sides. But as the sun went down and most people returned to their street clothes, the former soccer player looked like she'd forgotten to bring a change of clothes. She donned a small white cover up that looked like she grabbed the nearest dish towel and tied it around her waist. When in doubt, bring a backup outfit, and always keep an extra pair of cute shorts in your bag!
