Pippa Middleton Proves That Some Hairstyles Are Worth Repeating
As the little sister of the Princess of Wales, Pippa Middleton has similar style tendencies to Kate Middleton, with the added luxury of not having to follow royal fashion rules to a T. Leaning toward many of the same aesthetics as Kate, including royally sophisticated tweed coats, color-blocked blazers, and monochromatic moments, Pippa Middleton's style transformation has served a few more surprises than her sister's. Along with the fact that Pippa Middleton puts spins on outdated fashion trends, breathing new life into them, she's also not afraid to completely change up her hair — or, as 2025 has shown, repeat old styles.
In late 2017, Pippa deviated from her typical tresses, which were previously past shoulder length and often worn in braids or more regal-looking updos. She got the urge for a chop and was seen right up until summer 2018 sporting a much shorter mane. The lob, which she wore to Wimbledon that year, just grazed her shoulders, and with the added brightness of golden money-piece highlights, it made for the perfect warm-weather 'do. Now, in summer 2025, Pippa Middleton is channeling her old self again. While attending the 2025 British Grand Prix, she was seen with an even shorter lob, this time grazing her collarbone.
While there are a few differences between the 2017 and 2025 lobs, including the all-over brunette color of the latter, it's clear that Pippa loved this look the first time around. And since the shorter style is such a change from her usual braided updos, it's turning out to be yet another Pippa Middleton hair transformation that has heads turning.
Pippa Middleton's short hair is a departure from her go-to look
Pippa Middleton isn't spotted out and about nearly as much as her sister, Kate Middleton, but from the photos we have of her in 2018, it looks like the mom of three began growing out her hair again not long after her lob stint that summer. By summer 2019, she was back to her usual long locks, and at Wimbledon that year, it also looked like she'd returned to an all-over chocolate tone. She kept growing it over the next few years, appearing with her mane past shoulder length in 2021 and 2022 — and perhaps the longest yet in 2023. But by December 2024, she appeared to be gearing up for a return to her 2017 chop.
Aside from the color differences between these two lob styles, which are around eight years apart, Pippa has also gone for uniform length this time rather than the shorter face-framing layers she had back in 2018. Both layers and blunt length make great lob haircuts for the perfect in-between style, but the 2025 iteration creates a more bold, head-turning look, particularly with the pin-straight styling as opposed to the airier waves. As for whether this latest chop will have a "Pippa effect" on hair trends and return the lob to its former glory, we're waiting with bated breath.
