6 Times Rachel Brosnahan Should Have Landed On The Worst-Dressed List

Rachel Brosnahan served as the leading lady for the hit television show "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" from 2017 until its wrap in 2023, where she instantly captured the hearts of millions. When she graced the screen as Mrs. Maisel, Brosnahan made waves for her sharp wit, impeccable timing, and unbridled determination. It wasn't just her personality that had fans captivated, though; the styling was also what made viewers fall in love. "I think Rachel feels — as sometimes actors do — very invested in the clothes," the show's costume designer Donna Zakowska said during an interview with Elle in May 2023, adding that the actor took some of the garments home. But while Brosnahan looked incredible in the 1960s pieces, she doesn't always get her styling right in real life. 

To put it simply, Brosnahan's wardrobe hasn't always been as refined as Midge Maisel's, and she's encountered a few missteps in the process. Often, her fashion blunders come down to dresses that are lacking in personality, poorly coordinated accessories, and generally unflattering silhouettes. She's also failed to understand the assignment upon occasion, as we saw at the 2025 Met Gala. While we don't want to see these dress-wearing mistakes again, we won't hold them against Brosnahan for now. After all, a few style mishaps are part of the show-business deal.

Rachel Brosnahan portrayed Genevieve Duchannes in the 2013 film "Beautiful Creatures," but when she attended the premiere, her styling came up short. The actor stepped out in a beige A-line minidress embroidered with black crystals and a sheer layer of lace. She paired the look with black, strappy heels and a wooden handbag. Believe it or not, mixing black and brown accessories isn't even our biggest qualm with this look. Brosnahan is extremely fair-skinned, so putting her in a nude color didn't do much in terms of adding dimension and merely washed her out.

The "Superman" star decided on a powder-blue minidress with an embellished collar and silver kitten heels. It was her second consecutive win of the title, which explains why she came dressed up like a trophy. Slowly transitioning to longer gowns, Brosnahan graced the red carpet in a dandelion-colored dress, committing the same fashion faux pas as her previous looks: minimalistic styling with no regard for color theory (your daily reminder that color analysis is well worth digging into). 

If you thought Rachel Brosnahan's last dress was bad, her gown for the 2020 Critics' Choice Awards takes the cake. We're not so sure why the actor went through such an intense orange phase, but we're glad she's past it. We might even go so far as to call this one of Brosnahan's worst looks ever. The orange bubble skirt made her resemble the Pumpkin King in a dangerous way, and the material made the whole thing look bulky, wrinkled, and unflattering.

The theme was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," so when Brosnahan stepped out in a purple gown with a matching silk scarf worn backwards that was more meh than super tailored, we had questions.
