Lauren Boebert's Biggest Fake Tan Fails
Lauren Boebert has developed quite a unique aesthetic during her time in politics: a harsh side part, her trademark glasses, and, of course, her iconic fake tan. The Colorado congresswoman knows exactly what she wants her image to be; just look at the gaudy cowboy boots we've been begging Lauren Boebert to stop wearing. The woman loves her Western wear, often rocking cowboy hats, denim, and a pistol on her hip. And as we've seen a current trend toward spray tans in the Trump administration — take Kimberly Guilfoyle, RFK Jr., and the Trumps themselves — it's no wonder that Boebert hopped on the bronzed train.
"I think all this embracing of self-tan and makeup is squarely for an audience of one: Donald Trump," media trainer Andrea Purse said to HuffPost in November 2024. "It seems like more and more members of the Trump team have embraced Trump's 'look' in order to please their leader. And it seems to be working for them when it comes to being close to the center of power." Though Boebert doesn't work directly under Trump or in his administration, she's voiced her unbridled support of him through his elections and presidencies, adapting her style with the one that's forming in the nation's capital, but it doesn't always hit the mark. Let's take a look back at Boebert's worst fake-tan fails.
A reminder from Lauren Boebert to always tan your hands
In December 2020, Lauren Boebert traveled to Georgia to lend her support to former Senator Kelly Loeffler. However, when she posted a pic to Instagram, her spray-tan secrets were revealed. In the photo, Boebert is standing between musician Travis Tritt and his daughter, Tyler Reese Tritt, and pointing over to Tyler. While Boebert is covered up in a blazer and jeans, her hands and feet are visibly much lighter than her face. It's certainly a spray-tan mistake you don't want to make.
Lauren Boebert didn't bother to even out the tan when taking her family to meet Donald Trump
Lauren Boebert took her now-ex-husband and four sons to meet Donald Trump in April 2021 without checking to see if her face shade matched the rest of her body. In the Instagram post, the representative wore a bodycon minidress, revealing that her arms and legs were much paler than her face. Further, we can see in the photo that her arms and legs have red undertones, while her face is so dark that the undertones look more yellow-orange. Rookie mistake! If only she'd taken a note from our book and learned the mistakes to avoid for an evenly bronzed glow.
When Lauren Boebert took Halloween literally and channeled a pumpkin
Lauren Boebert debuted her darkest shade yet just in time for Halloween, but unfortunately, it wasn't a costume. Lauren Boebert was in one of her most tight-fitting outfits yet: a long-sleeved LBD, a cowboy hat, and strappy sandals. Her fake tan reached astronomical heights in the Instagram post, where she's posing again with Donald Trump and three of her sons. Her whole body was a shade of orange-brown that was so dark and artificial, you could easily mistake her for a jack-o'-lantern.
Lauren Boebert looked particularly orange while meeting supporters
In March 2025, Lauren Boebert attended a political meeting, as one of her supporters posted on social media. Despite wearing darker colors, it was still obvious how she had prepped for the meeting the night before. Oftentimes, to seem more tanned, one can wear white or lighter colors, or neons, to make the bronzer pop. However, Boebert was in a midnight-blue blazer and matching blouse, along with black slacks, which brought out the orange tones in her skin. At least her hands and feet nearly matched her face this time.
When Lauren Boebert went too heavy with the wrong foundation shade
During an appearance on "The Matt Gaetz Show," Lauren Boebert did resort to wearing white to make herself appear darker. During the May 2025 interview, the representative was wearing a white button-down blouse and a red lip to go with her iconic lenses, but as we see her face moving in the clip, there's no dimension or hint at any other face makeup like blush or contour because Boebert's tan was simply too dark. At least the shade matched her chest and hands.
Who's going to tell Lauren Boebert that her spray tan is still obvious even with darker hair?
Lauren Boebert debuted a new hairstyle in June 2025 — and a new shade of bronze to go along with it. She posted a photo to Instagram in yet another LBD and black pumps, except her hair was now nearly black in a middle part and curled away from her face. Perhaps the second most-noticeable difference was Boebert's shoddy tan, which didn't look any less severe with a new, darker 'do despite being less orange. Additionally, if you look at Boebert's arms and legs, they slowly get lighter toward her hands and feet. This is why we exfoliate!
