Kristi Noem's Worst Casual Outfits That She Posted Anyway

Since becoming the United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem's fashion has continued to stun onlookers, and not in a good way. Kristi Noem has been known for her strange history of inappropriate "cosplay" outfits, and her style has definitely taken a MAGA turn with polished blazers and form-fitting dresses as of late. However, she's also been known to dress down at times and, unfortunately, has had many fashion fails on that front as well.

Kristi Noem has had a complete transformation from farm life to Fox News, but it looks like she hasn't left her rural 'fits behind. While sharing selfies in sweats, the former governor of South Dakota looks like she literally rolled out of bed. And, the times she goes for a casual weekend ensemble have her looking like a toddler who got hastily dressed by her busy mom. Perhaps it's time for a social media manager, because Noem seems to just post every look, no matter if she's dressed to the nines or in the worst casual outfit one could possibly put together.

There's nothing wrong with feeling cozy in an oversized sweatshirt and pants, especially if you're chilling with your girlies. Still, in the days of glamorized selfies, Kristi Noem should have gone for a more elevated athleisure look (which could have involved a pair of pumps) for this June 2025 snap. Instead, she posed in what looked like weathered gym clothes that were hastily grabbed out of her laundry hamper. At the very least, Noem could have brushed her hair out of the messy top bun, but perhaps she was trying to look relatable.

Jeans are perfectly acceptable for a football game, but Kristi Noem had us cringing with her outdated, cropped pair. From the skinny fit to the distressed hem, the politician looked like she pulled the pair from 2010. The distressed wash and the carefully placed holes weren't doing her outfit any favors either. Paired with a gray dad-like windbreaker, Noem looked like she threw on whatever was clean and called it a day. If it weren't for her Republican makeup, we would have thought she just rolled out of bed.

Kristi Noem is not one to turn down a photo op, but at least she could have made more of an effort with her appearance while supporting a local foundation in June 2025. From her ripped cropped sweater layered over another one, to the baggy gray sweatpants with the waist purposefully rolled down, Noem was dressed like she was on her way to a hip-hop class. "As a governor, very much inappropriately dressed for a public appearance, errand or not," an Instagram user scolded.

Remember the days of Zoom meetings during the COVID-19 lockdown, when everyone would be business casual on top, but party on the bottom? Well, Kristi Noem dressed exactly like that during Donald Trump's rally in 2024 in her structured navy blazer and baggy jeans. We're not sure what made her pair the two together, as it looked so horribly mismatched, but to double down on her confusing outfit, Noem wore a pair of old-looking gray sneakers. Tulsi Gabbard had the same idea with the same blazer, but at least her 'fit looked cohesive with a pair of heels.

Aw, look who went on a play date with her granny! At least that's what it looked like when Kristi Noem posed with an elderly supporter in 2024. The 50-something-year-old had on a loose striped sweater that could have come from The Children's Place, and a high-waisted pair of ill-fitting flared jeans. The two combined were the perfect outfit for a toddler during picture day, and if Noem had worn a pair of OshKosh B'Gosh sneakers, her look would have been complete.

Surely, as the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem could afford some nice clothing, but instead, she opted for a T-shirt full of holes while out and about in June 2024. While '90s grunge made a resurrection in the past few years, these days, style is all about simple elegance. We would have loved to see Noem pair a solid-colored top in a luxe material with her plaid shirt instead, which would have given grunge vibes in a more elevated way. She needs to toss that tee into the "Black Hole Sun" stat.
