As the first Indian-American second lady of the United States, Usha Vance has definitely made a mark. The mom-of-three has naturally dark hair that is now peppered with strands of gray, and she opened up about why she refuses to dye her locks. In an interview with The Free Press, when asked what it was like to be surrounded by Republicans with blond hair who love plastic surgery, Usha replied, "I'm laughing, because it would be really hard for me to be blond. That color would look totally absurd." The former lawyer went on, "For what it's worth, my reception into this world — and I'm not from a particularly wealthy background, not from a very fashion-oriented background personally or professionally — has been really positive. People don't seem to care all that much what I look like."

While she was specifically talking about refusing to dye her dark hair blond, it's also clear that Usha is just one of the many celebrities who proudly show off their gray hair. It's refreshing to see a public figure who doesn't feel the need to look perfect all the time. Admittedly, Usha Vance has been caught wearing outdated outfits, so maybe a glow-up could be in the cards for her future. However, the SLOTUS is making waves with her natural look, and many are applauding her no-frills approach to beauty.

Against all the perfectly coiffed MAGA crowd, Usha Vance certainly stands out with her gray hair, but folks are all for it. "One thing I admire about Usha Vance is her self-acceptance and confidence in her natural beauty, embracing her grey hair and complexion without feeling the need for cosmetic enhancements," Pakistani journalist Javeria Siddique tweeted. Investigative reporter Meg Brock posted on X, "Ladies, in a world that is constantly telling women not [to] show any signs of aging, be an Usha instead of a Kardashian. As a middle-aged woman with my own greying hair, I love and admire her self-confidence and natural beauty."

It's hard to imagine what the Trump women look like without makeup, but Usha has also gone bare-faced in public several times. Unfortunately, with her gray hair and less-is-more approach to makeup, some feel that the second lady looks older than her years. "She's not unattractive but ... she looks a solid decade older. I thought she was 50 and aging very gracefully. She's younger than I am and looks significantly older even though she's in better physical shape than I am," a Reddit user shared. Another replied, "It's not her hair ... It's her skin, sadly. The combination really makes her look like a solid 50." Unfortunately, women in the public eye, no matter what side of the political spectrum they lie on, will always be scrutinized for their looks, particularly around aging. You can almost bet that if Usha had turned to anti-aging cosmetic procedures and hair dye, she'd be getting judged for not aging gracefully. Whether or not you agree with her politics, it's safe to say that her no-fuss approach to critics and comments about her looks is definitely an inspiration.
