Usha Vance Outfits That Left Us Scratching Our Heads
Usha Vance has a super-relatable method for picking out her outfits, but some of the ensembles she's stepped out in are flat-out confusing. While she might be coming around to the idea of having a high-fashion moment, she's still miles away from making the same kind of splash as Melania Trump's best looks of 2025 so far.
In 2025, The Free Press asked Usha how she felt being around the MAGA women of Donald Trump's inner circle, and no doubt surrounded by the worst offenders of "Mar-a-Lago face." Usha met the question with a joke, remarking, "I'm laughing, because it would be really hard for me to be blonde ... that color would look totally absurd." More sincerely, she then insisted that she hasn't felt ousted by the Republican party because of her appearance. "For what it's worth, my reception into this world — and I'm not from a particularly wealthy background, not from a very fashion-oriented background personally or professionally — has been really positive. People don't seem to care all that much what I look like." Usha then spoke about how she has had to elevate her personal style due to her family's entry into the political spotlight, but she's still finding her footing and making mistakes along the way. Let's take a look back at some of Usha Vance's more confusing ensembles.
Wearing flats to the RNC was a choice for Usha Vance
The Republican National Convention in July 2024 formally introduced Usha Vance to the world, but her outfit did not seal the deal on her image. The former litigator decided on a beige midi dress that she paired with brown ballet flats. It's hard to decide where to start with our grievances, but let's begin with the fact that she avoided color at all costs. Understandably, Usha wouldn't want to steal the spotlight, but she just faded into the background. Her dress also didn't fit her properly and appeared wrinkled, not to mention the flat shoes that did absolutely nothing for her silhouette.
Usha Vance couldn't last a week without her trusty brown flats
We all have that one pair of shoes that we automatically throw on when running out of the house, and Usha Vance's are her brown flats. We know this because she wore them to two different rallies in July 2024. Shortly after the RNC, Usha and JD Vance attended a rally in Ohio, but this time around, Usha decided on a gray wrap-blouse with dark gray trousers. Not only was it a failed attempt at a monochromatic look, but the tired silhouette of the top made this another Usha Vance ensemble that was ruined by an outdated element.
When Usha Vance's skirt stuck out like a sore thumb
By October 2024, Usha Vance had stepped up her style game, but it was still lacking in certain areas. When she and JD Vance were on the campaign trail and attended a rally in Wisconsin, she stepped out in a navy-blue blouse, a matching two-button blazer, and a pencil skirt with a yellow floral pattern. She finished off the look the only way she knows how, with a pair of flats. Overall, the look isn't horrible, but we can't figure out why she didn't incorporate yellow into any other aspects of the look to make it more cohesive with the skirt.
Usha Vance opted against color while traveling abroad
Typically, when there's an opportunity to travel abroad, one would opt for fun and vibrant looks to play around with, but not Usha Vance. In February 2025, she and JD Vance traveled to France and met their president and first lady. For the occasion, Usha decided on a blue-gray ankle-length dress that featured a long-sleeved, pleated top. She finished the look with a subtle black kitten heel, which was the only saving grace for this ensemble. The dress itself was ill-fitting and frumpy, pulling our eyes to all the wrong places.
When Usha Vance celebrated St. Patrick's Day by wearing teal
Usha Vance has had a style transformation since JD Vance entered politics, but either she doesn't know what green is, or she got some seriously misleading information. When the Vances hosted Ireland's Taoiseach Micheál Martin and his wife Mary O'Shea for St. Patrick's Day, all but one was rocking the lucky color; we just hope she didn't get pinched. She posed for the photo-op in a double-breasted blazer and a coordinating turtleneck, but things went awry with her teal slacks. So close to green, yet so far.
Usha Vance couldn've been teaching an art class at the Friday Evening Parade
Usha Vance mistook the Friday Evening Parade in May 2025 for the student-teacher conference. For the event, Usha stepped out in a navy button-up dress with material that looked so thick it could've been mistaken for an apron. The drab color, unflattering silhouette, and thick fabric all mad the garment seem like something you'd paint in. As expected, Usha completed the look with a trusty pair of brown flats. She did mix it up a bit, though, as these shoes were sandals as opposed to her signature ballet flats.
