Both Of Usha Vance's Weddings Were So Different Than Melania Trump's

Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, is known for having a reserved persona. When standing by her husband's side during political events, Usha keeps to herself and refrains from speaking publicly very often. She does not look to be the center of attention, evident through her modest wardrobe which has slowly been evolving since she became second lady. On the campaign trail, Usha was seen in practical jeans and trousers rather than voluminous gowns. This is quite a contrast from First Lady Melania Trump who has long been accustomed to a lavish wardrobe and public-facing conduct.

Usha Vance and Melania Trump's styles aren't the only things that couldn't be more different about these ladies. Their respective weddings to their politician husbands were the perfect example of how the two women are opposites. Usha married JD in 2014 during an outdoor wedding held in Kentucky. The bride wore a sheath gown that showed off her figure while JD and his groomsmen wore gray suits. The reception was held under a large tent with wooden benches for guests to sit on. This modest venue was a reflection of JD's humble upbringings in rural Ohio.

But the couple was determined to incorporate traditions that were important to both the bride and the groom. Shortly thereafter, Usha and JD held a traditional Indian ceremony that represented Usha's Hindu faith. This wedding included Usha and JD wearing traditional Indian garb alongside only a handful of close friends and family. Unlike Usha Vance's quaint and personal wedding ceremonies, the Trumps went all out for their big day.

Melania Trump's wedding was an over-the-top affair

When Donald Trump married his third wife Melania Knauss in 2005, the event was extremely maximalist. Roughly 400 guests attended the wedding including celebrities and politicians. After the wedding, the reception was held in a grand ballroom at Donald's Mar-a-Lago country club. For her part, Melania requested a full orchestra with 46 strings. The venue was decorated with 10,000 flowers. Even the orange-flavored sponge cake was excessive, weighing a massive 200 pounds.

Melania's outfit alone was a huge part of the bill. Her satin gown was made by Dior and reportedly cost $100,000. The veil made the outfit look even bigger by adding 16 feet trailing from the bride's head, resembling a headpiece one would see at the Kentucky Derby. Needless to say, the dress was bulky and heavy, weighing around 60 pounds and including a 13-foot long train. It was definitely one of the first lady wedding dresses that left everyone scratching their heads by showing off the lengths that the Trump family will go to in order to show off their wealth.

The weddings of Usha Vance and Melania Trump foreshadowed how the ladies would present themselves when in the eye of the public. Melania's grand walk down the aisle relied heavily on opulence and materialism. In comparison, Usha Vance, whose style has transformed since JD Vance took up politics, chose to be more subtle in both of her wedding ceremonies.
