Inside Pippa Middleton's Lavish Life

Pippa Middleton is best known as the younger sister of Catherine, Princess of Wales, and the sister-in-law of William, Prince of Wales. She's reportedly close with her royal in-laws, but the mother-of-three is far from living in her sister's shadow. Pippa made headlines in 2011, when she served as the maid of honor in Kate and William's royal wedding (and nearly stole the show in a form-fitting Alexander McQueen gown). Since then, she's risen to heights that even rival that of the House of Windsor, with many of her life's blessings coming through her marriage to hedge fund manager James Matthews.
One of the biggest luxuries that Pippa and James have is privacy, so while we don't know for certain, his net worth has been estimated in the past to be somewhere around $2 billion (via The Standard). He was born into a privileged background but still doesn't quite come from the old money that the royal family does; his father, David Matthews, is a self-made millionaire who built his empire as an entrepreneur with a particular focus on hotel ownership after a career as a racing car driver. James followed in his father's footsteps as a racing car driver before starting his own capital management business in 2001, having managed £1 billion in investments by 2007.
As the financier's wife, Pippa lives in a lavish residence and has been propelled toward her own business opportunities while also raising children Arthur, Grace, and Rose. Naturally, she's got a flourishing social life in London's high society, a hotly speculated and debated title, and, of course, the fashion to match it all.
Pippa Middleton's potential property portfolio is a sight to behold
Pippa Middleton and James Matthews' primary residence is a mansion in Berkshire, England, that they reportedly bought off-market for £15 million in the early 2020s. The property, dating back to Georgian times, comes with 32 rooms — more than enough space for the family of five. Best of all, the mansion is just a short distance from Bucklebury Manor, where Pippa's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, live. Renovations are said to be in the works, with Pippa and James having added a swimming pool to the vintage property in 2022. Prior to the move, they lived in a townhouse in Chelsea, London, that sprawled across five floors (including six bedrooms) and was reportedly worth £17 million.
Some other prestigious properties may be making their way to Pippa and James' portfolio in the coming years, starting with Scotland's stunning Glen Affric Lodge. James' father, David Matthews, owns the estate, which is set on 10,000 acres of land and casually has its own loch. The estate, which has eight bedrooms and even a whiskey room, will likely be passed down to James and Pippa in the future. There's no confirmation on how much David forked out for the Scottish retreat, but its three-night rental price of £11,800 gives us an idea.
Pippa and James could also be set to inherit David and his wife Jane Matthews' Eden Rock St. Barths, where the couple met in 2007. Hosting several celebrities over the years, the hotel has 32 rooms and suites. Having the exclusive hotel in the family already gives them a flashy place to stay in the Caribbean, but owning it would likely add to their income stream significantly.
Pippa Middleton has an enviable wardrobe
What good is a 10-figure net worth if you're not going to spend some of it on your wardrobe? Pippa Middleton's stunning style transformation has been a delight to witness over the years. She might not sell out garments to the point that her sister Kate Middleton does (widely known as the "Kate Effect"), but she does have enviable style, and a reasonable ability to set trends with it. Like her sister, the socialite seems to favor a mix of high and low fashion, blending high-end exclusive designers with more accessible brands. Pippa Middleton even put a spin on the outdated skinny jean fashion trend by opting for a pop of color.
Over the years, we've seen her in outfits from Stella McCartney, Emilia Wickstead, Polo Ralph Lauren, Alexa Chung, and Carolina Herrera, among others, and some of these designers have even helped Pippa Middleton create her best wedding-guest looks. On the footwear front, she reaches for the likes of Stuart Weitzman and Jimmy Choo, while Cartier, Rolex, and Tiffany & Co. are among her go-to jewelry brands. Of course, that doesn't include her Asscher-cut diamond engagement ring, said to be over three carats and worth £250,000. Her collection of accessories may be the most impressive of all, containing pieces from Prada and Chanel. Like Kate, Pippa still has space in her wardrobe for Zara, frequently wearing items from the fast-fashion label out and about in London.
Pippa Middleton runs in prestigious circles
Whether it's due to her connection to the Prince and Princess of Wales, her marriage, or perhaps both, Pippa Middleton certainly has an exciting social life in the upper echelons of British society. She's frequently seen at exclusive events (either alone or with her sister), from the French Open to Wimbledon. Pippa also supports Kate Middleton and her in-laws at royal events, such as the Together at Christmas celebrations held during the holidays at Westminster Abbey. The royals seem to have accepted Pippa more than they've accepted other in-laws, as she's even been spotted celebrating Christmas at Sandringham with them. Even before she tied the knot with James Matthews, Pippa was spotted at an array of balls and charity functions over the years, certainly leading the life of an aristocrat even without an official title.
Speaking of nobility, she might not be royalty, but news of Pippa and James' engagement led to the British press claiming that she was also in line for a title. When her father-in-law, David Matthews, purchased Glen Affric Lodge in Scotland, several outlets reported that the land came with the title of the Laird of Glen Affric. Tradition dictates that this would be passed down to the eldest son, so Pippa would become the Lady of Glen Affric in the future. However, the Lord Lyon of Scotland revealed, "Ownership of a souvenir plot of land does not bring with it the right to any description such as 'laird', 'lord' or 'lady'" (via The Duchess Diary). Royal expert Marlene Koenig then confirmed to the outlet that Pippa's husband would be "James Matthews, Younger of Glen Affric or James Matthews, yr. His wife would be Mrs. Matthews, yr." Still, noble title or not, Pippa's life already closely resembles that of a lady.
Pippa Middleton's wedding was straight out of a fairy tale
We didn't get the live footage of Pippa Middleton and James Matthews' 2017 wedding the way we did with the Prince and Princess of Wales' nuptials in 2011, but the details that have since emerged make it clear that it was every bit as magical (and lavish). For starters, Pippa was a vision in a custom Giles Deacon dress with a cathedral-length veil that partially concealed her Robinson Penham tiara. The style was conservative, with a high neck and cap sleeves, but the intricate lace oozed opulence.
The pair wed at St. Mark's Church in Berkshire, England, and the reception took place on the Middletons' estate in Bucklebury. Flowers adorned the church for the ceremony, while the reception was held in a £100,000 glass marquee brought in from Belgium. Since the reception didn't immediately follow the ceremony, the 300 guests were left to wander around Bucklebury village for the afternoon until they checked in with security and were then picked up by a fleet of Range Rovers that transported them to the party. Not too shabby!
The nuptials were said to be Scottish-inspired (although the aesthetic was apparently giving "enchanted forest" with cherry blossom trees) given James' heritage, so haggis bites kicked off the five-course gastronomical experience. That might not sound overly fancy, but the canapés also included a Parmesan cheese wheel, carpaccio, and fresh lobster, plus £40,000 worth of caviar. There was reportedly a whiskey bar on offer, along with Ruinart Blanc de Blanc Champagne. As for entertainment, a saxophonist, a table tennis tournament, and a flypast of World War II Spitfire fighter planes kept guests from twiddling their thumbs, while the waitstaff was made up of professional models.
Pippa Middleton works hard, but she parties hard, too
Being in the financial position that she's in doesn't mean Pippa Middleton is kicking up her feet and lounging by the pool. Together with James Matthews, she purchased Bucklebury Farm near her home in Berkshire, England, in 2020 for £1.5 million, and has revamped it into a family-friendly country destination. The 72-acre farm now boasts glamping pods, a cafe and farm shop, and a play area for kids. Events are held there through the year, with six-month memberships available from £68. Pippa and James are continuing to build the business and its revenue by putting a preschool on the grounds.
Along with her business ventures, she's also the author of the lifestyle book "Celebrate: A year of British festivities for families and friends," which was released in 2012. But between her brimming social calendar and work endeavors, Pippa also knows how to kick up her heels. In September 2025, a party was held for James Matthews' 50th at the couple's Bucklebury home, and once more, the festivities were marked with a Spitfire fighter plane display and an impressive guest list consisting of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, and then-Red Bull Racing executive Christian Horner. The partying carried on until the wee hours of the morning, angering local neighbors. "It's common courtesy and respect," one disgruntled neighbor told the Daily Mail at the time. "There are a lot of very nice people who have a lot of money, but this is about entitlement. I'm a night owl and I do like parties but I'm also aware of others. They could easily have had a silent disco."
While Pippa might have annoyed the neighbors, at least her style is unmatched. With her chic lob crop, Pippa Middleton has proven that some hairstyles are worth repeating.
