Taylor Swift Keeps Wearing This Early 2000s Trend To Remind Us How Happy She Is

Taylor Swift has always worn her heart on her sleeve, and now, she's using jewelry to scream out her love for her fiancé Travis Kelce. In an Instagram reel shared by Taylor Nation on September 20, the "Fortnight" singer explained why there are so many versions of her upcoming album's cover art. "We wanted this album to feel really luxurious," the pop star told fans. Speaking of luxury, in the video Taylor Swift wore a leather miniskirt with fall vibes and a sweater top, which she accessorized with a Y2K "T" initial necklace. And, while the letter could stand for her own name, we're fairly sure she's holding Kelce close to her heart, literally.

Fans may recall Swift's song "Call It What You Want" from her "Reputation" album, which contains the lyrics: "I want to wear his initial on a chain 'round my neck / Chain 'round my neck / Not because he owns me / But 'cause he really knows me." Although she wrote the song pre-Kelce, it seems she's bringing her song to life, and quietly showing off how in love she is now. Eagle-eyed fans have speculated that Swift's initial necklace may also be an Easter egg, as the font is the same as her "Reputation" album's, giving a nod to "Call It What You Want." 

While fans are deep into the theories surrounding this necklace, it's also possible that Swift is simply giving a nod to her roots, as she grew up in the noughties when initial necklaces were all the rage. The "Lover" singer may even simply be riding the wave of current trends, since the initial necklace officially returned to the fore in late 2024, when it appeared on protagonist Joanne in the Netflix series "Nobody Wants This."

There have been many times where Taylor Swift has dropped a big hint with her outfits, and she subtly gave a nod to Travis Kelce previously with a sexy accessory worn in the most surprising way. The "All Too Well" singer wore a structured red Vivienne Westwood creation with a plunging neckline and high hem with a peekaboo slit. But what made the look even steamier was the gold and ruby garter chain with the letter T draped over Swift's thigh, which we're guessing was a nod to Kelce. Since the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end wasn't there to accompany her, it might have been the songwriter's way of keeping him close — and what a way to do it! Taylor Swift has worn some of her sexiest outfits since she started dating Travis Kelce, and her 2025 Grammy Awards dress was high on that list even without the initial accessory. 

Swift's necklace showed up again at her pal Brittany Mahomes' 30th birthday, but this time, it was around her collarbone. She was seen posing with the WAG in one of Mahomes' Instagram carousel pictures, wearing a black outfit and her signature red lip. A fan was quick to notice the now-iconic jewelry and wrote, "The T !!!!! Not on her thigh but around her neck." It looks like Swift is in her Kelce era, and she wants the world to know it.
