The Worst Wigs We've Seen In Hallmark Channel Movies
Viewers of the Hallmark Channel know that the network is known for feel-good movies, happy endings, and tons of awful wigs. Not every star on the network wears hairpieces, but when one does, it's pretty easy to spot. Clues like weird hairlines and synthetic-looking strands give the wigs away almost immediately, and fans have long called out Hallmark for using cheap-looking pieces on its actors. We get that some projects, like period dramas, require elaborate 'dos, which is easier to do with a wig than having the stars sit in the glam chair for hours. For example, it's well-known that the ladies of "Bridgerton" don wigs, but even the more natural styles worn by Nicola Coughlan look like she was born with that head of gorgeous locks.
With the Hallmark Channel being one of the biggest networks on television, you would think it would splurge on higher-quality wigs. The Hallmark Channel leading ladies (and their real-life partners) are famous, after all. Sadly, the higher-ups have dropped the ball on outfitting the stars with decent hair, and we're begging them to raise the wig budget so that we can focus on the storylines and not the actors' awful hair.
Erin Krakow's It Was Always You wig was a poor replica of her real hair
Fans are used to seeing Erin Krakow with her signature bob in "When Calls the Heart," but the much more voluminous style she sported in the 2021 Hallmark film "It Was Always You" had fans wondering if she was wearing a wig. From the heavy look of her hair to the blunt bangs, this was a celeb wig moment that turned heads for the wrong reasons. Perhaps Krakow was going for a fuller look than her "When Calls the Heart" character's hair, but sadly, the wig literally fell flat.
Jodie Sweetin did not look like an heiress in that wig
One of the most obvious wigs worn on the Hallmark Channel was Jodie Sweetin's in the 2024 movie "The Heiress and the Handyman." From the start, the unnaturally low hairline gave it away, as did the strange way one side sat on Sweetin's head. The strands also looked lifeless and dull, with the hair fashioned in outdated, large curls. One fan took to Reddit to vent, writing, "Why does Jodie Sweetin wear a wig in 'The Heiress and The Handyman??' It is so distracting." With the "Full House" star's naturally gorgeous hair perfectly matching the bunny blond trend, production's covering it up is still curious.
Candace Cameron Bure's Aurora Teagarden wig was so obvious
Candace Cameron Bure is known for her blond hair, so she naturally looked completely different with auburn hair in the "Aurora Teagarden" films. Not only was the red shade a bit jarring, but viewers could also tell that Bure was wearing a wig. After years of trying to fake her hair, she told fans in 2021 that she started dying her real tresses red. "We do some temporary color. So I know I wore a wig for a few of the movies, and you all hated that, so we don't do that anymore," she said in a now-expired Instagram story (via EntertainmentNOW).
Hallmark did Josie Bissett wrong with her terrible wig in The Wedding March
"Melrose Place" fans were in for a treat when Josie Bissett and Jack Wagner starred in the Hallmark Channel's "The Wedding March." However, many were sorely disappointed in the blond wig that she wore, which covered her already gorgeous hair. The side-swept bangs did nothing to hide the unnatural hairline, and one viewer vented on IMDb, "I liked the young women, liked the setting and the actors, but that horrible wig distracted me in every scene. I kept expecting someone to rip it off so we could see real hair. It was the worst wig I've ever seen anywhere."
Nikki DeLoach's bangs in Sweet Autumn were hopefully not real
Nikki DeLoach is a Hallmark Channel darling, with more than a dozen films with the network under her belt. Usually, her hair looks amazing, but her "Sweet Autumn" look just didn't land. Her bangs were way too heavy, overpowering her delicate features and making the actor's face look more angular. One fan shared on Primetimer, "I'm finally getting around to 'Sweet Autumn.' I'm hoping that Nikki DeLoach's hair is a wig. Those bangs..." If a Hallmark Channel fan is begging an actor to wear a wig, that means the hairstyle has got to go.
Marla Renae's Winter in Vail wig needed to be buried in the snow
While Marla Renae wasn't a leading lady in "Winter in Vail," she did play Lacey Chabert's character's bestie in the Hallmark film. Sadly, someone thought it was a good idea to put Renae in a huge, bouffant-like wig, and it looked like the hair department just plopped it onto her head without any styling. One TikTok user shared a screenshot of the actor in the film and wrote, "Hallmark y'all can afford lace fronts." They also added in their caption, "I love Christmas Movies, but let's leave these bad wigs behind in 2024 @Hallmark Channel." We firmly stand behind this plea.
