Katrina Pierson's Inappropriate Outfit On CNN Will Always Haunt Her
The words "Katrina Pierson" and "inappropriate" seem to go hand-in-hand. The congresswoman from Texas has made all kinds of gaffs through her years on the political stage, including incorrectly blaming reporters for harmful actions they never committed, but when it comes to fashion, there's one inappropriate outfit that will always haunt her. The look in question was worn for an interview on CNN in December 2015. At the time, Pierson was the spokesperson for Donald Trump's presidential campaign, and she wore a red outfit with a bullet necklace. That's right: bullets. She certainly didn't need any tips on styling a statement necklace to make it the focus of her outfit.
We have to suspect that Pierson didn't just grab this necklace for the interview because she thought it complemented her look. In a country where tens of thousands of deaths result from gun violence every year, she would undoubtedly know that this fashion accessory would cause a stir, especially when news anchors and guests typically wear professional attire. Like Lauren Boebert's most inappropriate outfits, which include a pro-gun T-shirt, surely this necklace was worn to incite a conversation or at least deflect from more pressing political matters?
Katrina Pierson's inappropriate bullet necklace caused a stir
Incite a controversy, it did. After Katrina Pierson wore her bullet necklace on CNN, the internet went wild. The host of the show on which Pierson appeared, Jim Sciutto, even followed up about her jewelry choice. While some speculated that she was advocating for a pro-gun agenda, Pierson played it off as if she was supporting the Texas-based manufacturer that her bullets came from. "Support your small business owners!" she tweeted about the incident. Then, after an anti-gun advocate questioned the fashion choice, Pierson tweeted, "Maybe I'll wear a fetus next time," as a way to promote her anti-abortion stance. (She has yet to deliver on the threat, thankfully.)
With this outfit, Pierson's in good company. Lauren Boebert and many others in the MAGA movement are known for extreme clothing choices — and even ones that seem a little unprofessional. We can't forget how Kristi Noem's cowboy hat obsession shows no signs of slowing down, after all. Ultimately, these outspoken conservative women don't just use their voices to make themselves heard; they extend it to their fashion, too.
