The Real-Life Partners Of The 9-1-1 Universe Ladies

"9-1-1" has been entertaining fans since 2018, and there's no shortage of drama, thrilling emergency calls, and plenty of sizzling romance. Based on the lives of Los Angeles' first responders, the show became such a huge hit that the spinoff "9-1-1: Nashville" launched in October 2025 with a new set of famous faces, including Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley. Meanwhile, on the original side, viewers have welcomed back Jennifer Love Hewitt and Angela Bassett as the leading ladies for the series' ninth season to date.

While Hewitt's character on "9-1-1" is now married to Howard "Chimney" Han, played by Kenneth Choi, a fun fact fans may already know is that the "Party of Five" actor's real-life husband Brian Hallisay often makes a cameo on the show as an abusive ex. Of course, he's nothing like his character, and along with Hewitt, the rest of the "9-1-1" universe leading ladies are happily paired up with their respective partners.

Jennifer Love Hewitt and her husband have been married for over a decade

"9-1-1" fans loved seeing Jennifer Love Hewitt and Kenneth Choi's romance unfold over the seasons, but in real life, the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" star had been married for over five years before she joined the series in Season 2. Hewitt and Brian Hallisay first met in 2011 while shooting a pilot, but it wasn't until starring in "The Client List" together a year later that sparks flew. After a year of dating, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child, and told Us Weekly, "We're so thrilled and happy to start a family." The two got married in a private ceremony in 2013 before the arrival of their daughter Autumn. They have since welcomed sons Atticus and Aidan, making their family a party of five.

Jennifer Love Hewitt, who has had a complete transformation since the '90s, reunited on-screen with Hallisay again when he portrayed her character's ex-husband in the Season 2 premiere of "9-1-1." After a handful of cameos playing an abusive villain, the "Revenge" star switched gears and starred in a 2024 holiday romance with his wife, titled "The Holiday Junkie." On working on a film near and dear to Hewitt's heart, Hallisay shared with Variety, "She obviously loves Christmas and Christmas movies. So for her to be able to not only be in one, but direct one and create this world and tell this story that was very personal to her — it felt really special to be a part of that."

Angela Bassett's husband is an award-winning actor

"9-1-1" sergeant Athena Grant-Nash portrayer, Angela Bassett, and her husband, Courtney B. Vance, might not have had a meet-cute, but they are in one of the longest-running marriages in Hollywood. The two first met while studying drama at Yale, and while Bassett was intrigued by Vance, the "Hunt for Red October" star shared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2007, "I don't remember her at all, really." Bassett revealed that she reconnected with her now-husband in 1994 during a chance encounter, and they ended up going on a date. However, sparks were slow to fly, as they both found the date unmemorable, but it wasn't until their second night out that the two realized they liked each other.

Bassett and Vance married in 1997 and welcomed twins Bronwyn and Slater nine years later. The award-winning actor, who was recognized for his roles in "Lovecraft Country" and "American Crime Story," told People how he makes his marriage to Bassett work: "It's really about when my wife is happy, the land is happy. So I just try to [go], 'Does this work for you, baby?' It doesn't work ... we're not doing that." He added, "And I think it's the mutual respect. You gotta talk about [it] and figure out which way ... [you] want to go." It sounds like Vance has honed in on the secret that contributes to a healthy, long-lasting relationship.

Jessica Capshaw's husband has ties to Jessica Alba

Jessica Capshaw is known for her role as a doctor in "Grey's Anatomy," and now, she plays Blythe Hart, the wife of a fire captain, in "9-1-1: Nashville." Despite being in the industry for ages and having Steven Spielberg as her stepdad to boot, Capshaw has a partner who is not in the acting business. The star married businessman Christopher Gavigan in 2004, and they share four kids together.

According to Gavigan's LinkedIn, he is the co-founder of The Honest Company alongside Jessica Alba, as well as the CBD brand, Prima. The entrepreneur revealed to Mixergy that he came to work with the movie star when she came to his book launch for "Healthy Child, Healthy World" very pregnant and asked his advice on which products she should use. After Alba repeatedly asked Gavigan to help her create non-toxic products, they joined together to work tirelessly and created The Honest Company. "That's how the brand launched. Honest.com, for the first 18 months, was the only platform that we sold through," he shared.

Gavigan is not just about healthy living, but he also cares about the environment, which he passes on to his children. "One of the greatest responsibilities as a parent, and duties as a parent is to instill a level of communication and empowerment around the choices that we have. If you want to look at your future, look at your daily choices," he told Bedford 2030.

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are still together after a public scandal

If you're a fan of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" or love country music, you've probably heard of the affair between LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian. The two fell in love in 2008 while starring in "Northern Lights" together, while married to their respective spouses. Ultimately, Rimes' marriage to Dean Sheremet didn't make it, and Cibrian went through a divorce from his then-wife Brandi Glanville as well. After much public scrutiny, Rimes and Cibrian are still going strong after getting married in 2011, and the "9-1-1: Nashville" star told The Flow Space, "I know what I'm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that. But you know, the world's pain is not mine to carry, and I think that really got thrown at me for a long time."

Despite their shaky start, Cibrian is still very much in love with Rimes, who plays single mom Dixie Bennings in "9-1-1: Nashville." He told ET in 2021, "You grow as a couple. Every day, you find something else that you love about each other. It's wonderful. You have a real companion and somebody who's just there and [that you] trust with everything, they know everything. It's nice to have that." While the "Sunset Beach" star is navigating co-parenting with Glanville, Rimes is right there by his side. In June, Cibrian posted a proud father moment of his son Jake's high school graduation, with the "How Do I Live" singer present. "And the Class of 2025 is off and running! Congrats my boy @jakecibrian," the father of two gushed.

Kimberly Williams-Paisley is married to a country music superstar

If you haven't guessed already, "9-1-1: Nashville" star Kimberly Williams-Paisley is married to country singer Brad Paisley. The longtime couple first got together after the "Whiskey Lullaby" singer asked his now-wife to star in his music video, which sparked a romance between them, but Paisley had his eyes on the "Father of the Bride" star after seeing her in the 1991 film. "I thought, she seems like a great girl — smart and funny and all those things that are so hard to find," he told Good Housekeeping (via Taste of Country). Kimberly and Brad got engaged in 2002, and a year later, they married in a surprise wedding in front of their family and friends.

After welcoming their two sons, William Huckleberry and Jasper Warren, the Paisleys' marriage is stronger than ever. On how he and Kimberly stay connected, Brad told The Boot, "We both have very healthy senses of humor. Anything I take myself too seriously on, she will gladly cut me down to size on and destroy all pre-conceived notions that I'm cool in any way." Kimberly Williams-Paisley, who has had a complete transformation since her breakout role in "Father of the Bride," showed her sense of humor when she told People that Brad would be open to a "9-1-1: Nashville" cameo. "I said we should put him in turmoil, put him in an accident or crisis of some kind, and let me save the day. That would make me feel good," she joked.
