The Ladies Of Chicago Med And Their Real-Life Partners
"Chicago Med" has been riveting fans for 11 seasons to date, and it's no surprise, with all the action-packed drama, hospital politics, and on-screen love stories. The show premiered in 2015 as a spinoff to "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D.," and the trifecta is just perfect for showing what goes on behind the scenes for first responders. Of course, it's not just saving lives for the "Chicago Med" team. There are plenty of on-screen hookups that keep fans hooked, and over the years, viewers have gotten invested in the romances of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center crew, including that of April Sexton and Ethan Choi. And, we can't forget about Natalie Manning and her on-again-off-again relationship with Will Halstead, who also has a happy ending.
Off-camera, Natalie Manning's portrayer, Torrey DeVitto, is happily married to her husband, who is also in the industry. Previously married to her "Vampire Diaries" co-star Paul Wesley, she is now a first-time mom and thriving as an actor after returning to "Chicago Med" for Season 11. Along with DeVitto, the other ladies of the fan-fave NBC show are also in healthy relationships, and here's everything to know about their real-life partners.
Marlyne Barrett is married to a pastor
Marlyne Barrett, who has played E.R. charge nurse Maggie Lockwood since Season 1 of "Chicago Med," has been married to her husband Gavin Barrett since 2009. As a pastor, Gavin is devoted to his faith and his wife, whom he lovingly tended to while she underwent treatment for cancer. "I get pins and needles in my limbs from the chemo, and he'll drop everything to give me food and hand massages. He's dropped everything just to give me love," Marlyne gushed to People. The two share twins Ahnne-N'Urya and Joshuah-Jireh.
Torrey DeVitto shares a daughter with her director husband
Torrey DeVitto's husband Jared LaPine also has a Hollywood career, but he's more of a behind-the-scenes guy, having worked as a production assistant for years before trying his hand at directing in 2016. The couple announced their engagement in September 2023 on Instagram and got married a year later before welcoming their daughter Lyle-Josephine in November 2024. "I am so lucky I get to watch and learn from the best mother in the world. What a special gift that is and thank you for making me a dad!" LaPine gushed on social media.
Lorena Diaz's husband supported her acting dream
"Chicago Med" wouldn't be complete without a sarcastic nurse, which Lorena Diaz does perfectly as Doris. However, that may never have happened if she hadn't had the support of her husband Mike Dwyer. The business recruiter shared on LinkedIn in 2023 that Diaz wanted to quit her job a decade ago and pursue acting. At the time, he had just started a business and was worried about their finances, but he wanted to support his partner as she chased her dreams. "Hard work, grit, and a little faith can get a person places. Trust me, I'm married to one," he wrote.
Courtney Rioux has a playful relationship with her husband
If Courtney Rioux looks familiar, it's because you may have recognized her as the paramedic in "Chicago Med." On camera, she's always no-nonsense, but in real life, Rioux loves to goof around with her husband Scott Hubbard. In October 2024, she dressed up as internet personality Ms. Rachel, with Hubbard beaming with excitement. "Tell me you have a 2-yr-old without telling me you have a 2-yr-old," the actor joked. Hubbard makes a living as a communications coach, with a degree from Purdue University. Together, he and Rioux share their son Charlie.
Norma Kuhling is married to a Harry Potter fan
Norma Kuhling, who plays Ava Bekker in "Chicago Med," lives her life fairly privately. It's unclear what her husband's name is, but she does have a cute nickname for him. "3 years ago today, at city hall in New York City, I married the most handsome Englishman in the world," she shared in November 2018. "Happy Anniversary, Sir James 'Sherlock' Bond OBE." The mystery man also clearly loves Harry Potter. "It's my husband's 33rd birthday today and I found this photo of him from middle school as moaning myrtle so on to the internet it goes," Kuhling quipped.
Jessy Schram's husband is a talented photographer
"Chicago Med" star Jessy Schram married her fiancé Sterling Taylor in July 2023 in a sweet ceremony in front of family, friends, and the Hannah Asher portrayer's castmates. Schram told People about finding her soulmate, "For us it's a declaration, not only to ourselves, but with our community, that we choose each other." While the actor is busy gracing television screens, Taylor is more comfortable behind the camera as a photographer, and has even used his wife as a subject. Schram looked gorgeous in a headshot Taylor shared in 2024, bringing out her natural beauty with soft lighting.
