Millie Bobby Brown Revived One Of Gwyneth Paltrow's Most Infamous '90s Outfits

Let's do a quick spot of math. Millie Bobby Brown turned 21 years old in 2025, meaning she was born in 2004. In those two decades, she's earned a couple of Emmy nominations for her role as Eleven in "Stranger Things"; produced five films and starred in even more; been chosen as the youngest UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador ever; has been on Time's list of the most influential people in the world; gotten married; and adopted a baby. This year, Brown has been promoting the fifth and final season of "Stranger Things," as well as "The Electric State," a movie set in the '90s that came out in February. For the film's red carpet in Madrid, she decided to lean into the decade of grunge glam by pulling inspiration from iconic actors of the time like Gwyneth Paltrow. To Spain's premiere, the star wore the ultra-sheer Giorgio Armani dress the Goop founder donned to the 1998 "Shakespeare in Love" premiere, which was one of Gwyneth Paltrow's most inappropriate outfits ever. Of course, no one knows if it's the specific one the "Iron Man" actor wore or not, but does it really matter? Even if a little startling, both stars looked great in it. After Brown posted a photo of her in the look on Instagram and tagged Paltrow, the latter commented, "You wore it best!"

Millie Bobby Brown's style transformation doesn't just include the '90s and Gwyneth Paltrow. She's also fast-forwarded a few years to 2001. In January of that year, Britney Spears wore what would become one of her most-commented-on looks of all time. For the American Music Awards, she sported a patchwork denim dress that twinned with then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake, who wore a coordinating denim suit. For some, it was cringe, but for others, it was monumental. Regardless, it was noteworthy in fashion history.

And Brown is revisiting that history. In February 2025, she wore a two-piece denim look in Spain that originally featured on a 2021 Dolce & Gabbana runway.
