Mariah Carey may be the queen of Christmas songs, but Gwen Stefani appears to be making a bid for the title this year. The "Hollaback Girl" has been promoting her updated holiday album, "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," whose two new songs feature in the Prime holiday movie "Oh. What. Fun." For her fifth appearance at the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony in New York City, which aired on NBC on December 3, Stefani belted out three of her pop holiday tunes. But just as buzz-worthy as her festive songs were her festive outfits. Yes, we're taking notice of Gwen Stefani's style evolution, and these leggy looks have us making a list and checking it twice.

Heads were turning to check out Mrs. Blake Shelton's gam-tastic outfits, which included not one but three looks for the Rockefeller event. For starters, she sang "Shake the Snow Globe" wearing a sugar-plum-fairy pink mullet-style dress — short in the front, long in the back. She styled the look with black accessories, including a belt, nylons, lace-up platform boots, and gloves. She's definitely giving us new ideas for how to put a spin on your traditional Christmas looks. Pink wouldn't necessarily be most people's immediate color choice for Christmas, but Stefani nailed it on stage.
Gwen Stefani had 2 more songs and 2 more leg-revealing outfits
For Gwen Stefani's second leggy outfit at the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony, she switched into a soft-blush minidress that had long sleeves as she performed her new festive hit "Hot Cocoa." She followed that with a Christmas-tree green and silver outfit, which was, again, very short and leg-revealing. For this look, she sang "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," from her original full-length holiday album, first released in 2017.
While she's not the first woman in her 50s (she was 56 at the time of the performance) to wear leggy looks, the internet had plenty to say. One critic wrote on X, "Gwen Stefani is wearing the most inappropriate outfit for a family show!!! Disgusting how short her dress is." Sure, there are dress and skirt styles to avoid if you have older legs, but Stefani looked sensational in many folks' opinions, and they lauded her for flaunting her assets. On the singer's Instagram post from the event, supporters wrote, "You always look darling," and "u look perfect," and "Ahhhhh!! This dress though!!! ICONIC!!" The "Bouquet" singer also owned her signature '90s makeup look, which may be a nod to her upcoming No Doubt residency in Las Vegas.
Gwen Stefani wasn't the only star showing some leg at the tree lighting
There was an eclectic lineup following Gwen Stefani's platform-booted performance at the Rockefeller Center ceremony, including event host Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, Laufey, Marc Anthony, and Halle Bailey. But there was another singer in her 50s that showed off her legs: Broadway legend Kristin Chenoweth, 57.
Chenoweth, the original "Wicked" Glinda, showed off her petite legs (she's 4'11") in a monochromatic burgundy 'fit for the show. She wore on-trend patterned tights under what looked like a sequined bodysuit and topped it with a floor-length coat. Again, at-home critics had opinions. On Chenoweth's Instagram, one wrote, "Looks like what Taylor Swift wore through the Eras tour," while another added, "How ridiculous is her attire!"
At the 2024 tree lighting ceremony, Mexican singer Thalía, then 53, also performed in a leggy outfit for the crowd. She wore festive colors of red and metallics over a sheer bodysuit. She finished the look with over-the-knee silver boots. Thalía's fans were more forgiving, praising the star's vocal power on her post from the event.
