Home Improvement Ladies Who Are Unrecognizable Today

"Home Improvement" was one of the biggest sitcoms of the '90s, with many fans looking back fondly on its eight-season run. Centered around Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, played by Tim Allen, and his DIY show, many loved the hijinks and family-friendly humor. As a dad of three rambunctious boys, he naturally had to have a sidekick, and that's where Patricia Richardson came in as his on-screen wife, Jill Taylor. Back then, she was known for her girl-next-door look and shoulder-length brunette hair, but the mom from "Home Improvement" is unrecognizable today.

Along with Richardson, there were two other notable ladies in the cast, one being the original "Tool Time Girl," Pamela Anderson. After she left the show for "Baywatch," Debbe Dunning stepped in and stayed on until the very end. After over 25 years, the "Home Improvement" women are bound to look different, and you'll be very surprised to see just how much they've changed in the time that's passed.

Patricia Richardson embraced her grays

As the matriarch of "Home Improvement," Patricia Richardson's character Jill Taylor was the voice of reason to her husband's childlike humor. Richardson played the exasperated wife and mom perfectly, giving the show a grounding force. The actor was 40 years old when the series began, and she's just as gorgeous in her 70s. However, gone are her beautiful brown strands, as she has since become a celebrity who proudly shows off her gray hair. An Instagram selfie shared in October 2020 showed that the bottom of her hair was brunette, with the caption, "Ok here we have covid hair grow out. Just don't want to cut it! So.... new covid fashion raccoon hair?"

Since going gray, Richardson hasn't looked back, and she has completely embraced her natural color. The mom of three looked simply stunning during the FanX Salt Lake convention in September 2025, where she reunited with her "Home Improvement" castmates, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning, as shared on Instagram. "Patricia Richardson looks great. She's rocking the white hair," a fan commented. We have to agree that with her flawless skin and shiny locks, Richardson looks just as youthful as she did decades ago.

Pamela Anderson went from Tool Time Girl to a renowned movie star

Pamela Anderson was relatively unknown when she starred as Lisa the "Tool Time Girl" in "Home Improvement." The then-23-year-old started her career as a model, and got her big break in her role as a fresh-faced beauty who handed tools to Tim Taylor as he filmed his show. Anderson stayed on for two seasons before leaving for "Baywatch," which gave her even more notoriety. While she rocked a natural look on set, the "Naked Gun" star was all about the smokey '90s makeup look on the red carpet. Over the years, Pamela Anderson has had a stunning style transformation and is now often seen with barely-there makeup.

Aside from acting, Anderson is focusing on her skincare line Sonsie Skin, which she relies on to keep her face looking impeccable. She also traded in her long signature blond hair for a soft-cinnamon hue styled in a wavy shag. Fans couldn't get over the transformation when Anderson debuted her new look in an Instagram post shared in October 2025. "Beyond wow......... The ultimate reinvention," one raved. As a movie star, an animal rights activist, and now an entrepreneur, Anderson has come a long way since "Home Improvement."

Debbe Dunning still puts on her Tool Time Girl belt

After Pamela Anderson left "Home Improvement," Debbe Dunning stepped in as the "Tool Time Girl," where she would fill the role until the show's end in 1999. Her brunette hair was a departure from Anderson's blond locks, but she still matched the same upbeat energy. Dunning was in her late 20s when she joined the cast, and she became a mom for the first time in 1996, with her pregnancy worked into her character's storyline. Dunning then welcomed two sons in 2000 and 2008 with her now-ex-husband Steve Timmons.

Since her "Home Improvement" days, Dunning has become a fitness queen, showing off her impressive gains on Instagram. In March 2025, she posted a reel of her pumping iron, proving that at almost 60 years old, she's just as fit as when she starred as Heidi Keppert. "You're just amazing," one fan commented. Dunning also revisits her role as the "Tool Time Girl" by making appearances at conventions. "I had a blast at the Washington Summercon in Puyallup!!" she shared in June while posing with her utility belt. The avid golfer also had a reunion with her former castmates, Tim Allen and Richard Karn, for a charity event in 2024. "It was nice to get the gang back together today to come out and support @themidnightmission giving individuals a chance to turn their lives around!!" she wrote. Although they're unrecognizable from their younger '90s selves, looking at the trio feels like old times.
