Maria Bartiromo Outfits That Left Us Scratching Our Heads
As a Fox News anchor who has been in front of the television for decades, Maria Bartiromo knows to always appear polished and professional. In an interview with Haute Living in 2022, she shared, "I would like to think my style is elegant and chic but not too much and not 'in your face.' I like to add a sparkle of fine jewelry when I can or a splash of color, but I usually keep my look to clean lines and do not like anything too busy." Back in 2016, Bartiromo revealed that her television outfits are always planned out, with several different options on hand. "I don't want to be thinking about my outfit. I don't want to be fiddling around with my shirt or my dress so it's important to feel comfortable in order to have the confidence to do a good job. So that's why I think it's important to plan the look in advance," she told People in 2016.
That doesn't mean she always gets it right, however. Along with being a news anchor who can't erase her makeup mistakes, Bartiromo's several fashion misses will live on forever. It's hard to imagine how one can go wrong with a daily uniform of conservative sheaths, power suits, and structured blazers, but some of the conservative commentator's outfit picks had us utterly confused.
Maria Bartiromo's oversized suit engulfed her frame
Maria Bartiromo was seen heading to work in February 2025 looking unrecognizable as a news anchor without makeup. She was dressed for the part, however, in a power suit, only it was several sizes too big. Julia Roberts, the celeb who actually popularized the oversized suit aesthetic, did it right when she wore hers to the 1990 Golden Globes, and Bartiromo should have taken notes from the "Pretty Woman" star. The "Mornings with Maria" host's cream-colored jacket overtook her small frame, while the matching pants needed to be hemmed a few inches.
Maria Bartiromo cosplayed as an officer
In March 2024, Maria Bartiromo invited the now-retired New York City Police chief of department John Chell to "Mornings with Maria," and the government official came dressed in his uniform. What's baffling, though, is that Bartiromo decided that it would be a good idea to wear a similar outfit, despite not being law enforcement. The news anchor was dressed in a dark military-like jacket with a mock collar and gold buttons. Fans picked up on the confusing ensemble, with one asking on Bartiromo's Instagram post, "Maria are you in uniform?"
Maria Bartiromo should have left her furry '90s hat at home
We get that Maria Bartiromo wanted to stay nice and warm in a January 2024 appearance of "Mornings with Maria," but her furry maroon hat wasn't giving morning television. It looked like she dug it out of her stash of 1990s accessories without a thought of matching her navy-blue sweater or obscuring the top half of her face. She asked fans on Instagram, "Hat or no Hat?" and, strangely, many were for the fuzzy head cover. One asked, "I want to know where she found that hat!" We're guessing Bartiromo found it from a thrift store.
Maria Bartiromo's Y2K look was a sheer mess
We've all had our fair share of bad Y2K outfits, but Maria Bartiromo's sheer red dress takes the cake. While it's perfectly acceptable for Bartiromo to wear a racy dress when she's not on-camera, her whole look for a 2006 gala in New York City was baffling. From the ruffles going down the front to the layered skirt and puffy pirate-life sleeves, there was way too much going on. As if that wasn't enough, she decided to add a wide tan belt to the mix. Bartiromo's past self needs to learn that less is more.
Maria Bartiromo's business cowgirl look didn't work
Maria Bartiromo needs to realize that sometimes mixing and matching doesn't work. In August 2025, she shared a selfie of her OOTD while on a trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and the whole look was an incohesive disaster. Bartiromo was business on top with a dark button-up shirt and a beige blazer, but waist down, she was all cowgirl. Proudly showing off her new bison belt, worn with a pair of slim-fitting jeans and brown lug-sole boots, Bartiromo was clearly unaware that she was wearing two different outfits that were desperately trying to fit together like mismatched puzzle pieces.
Maria Bartiromo's attempted coastal grandma look was worn in the wrong season
Maria Bartiromo usually sticks with structured 'fits, which is why the loose-fitting sweater she wore on-air was confusing. The swirly red designs on the black sweater were distracting, and she attempted a matchy-matchy look with bright-red pants and black sandals. If Bartiromo was going for a coastal grandmother look, she didn't quite achieve it, as her 'fit didn't have the soothing seaside aesthetic of the trend. What's more, the cardigan was worn in June, but had more of a Christmas feel. If anything, Bartiromo can re-wear the combo during the holidays and look more appropriate then.
