HGTV Star Erin Napier's 2022 CMAs Dress Was Borderline Inappropriate
"Home Town" co-host Erin Napier may have nailed casual outfits, including stylish ways to wear denim beyond jeans, on the home-reno show she stars in with husband Ben Napier, but back in 2022, the red carpet was new fashion territory for the HGTV star. Erin and Ben Napier, whose relationship may have a few red flags that our expert thinks aren't too much cause for worry, were invited to present the statue for best male vocalist at the '22 CMA Awards in Nashville, Tennessee. The couple was asked to attend just 12 days before the ceremony, and when Erin's first option of a dress didn't work, she ended up wearing a soft, floral gown from Marchesa.
As is the case with most celebs on the red carpet, onlookers had plenty of thoughts on the outfit. Some found Erin's CMAs dress borderline inappropriate due to the plunging neckline. One member of a Facebook fan page for the couple wrote, "She's very pretty but the exposed area should be reserved for her husband's eyes only, in my opinion." Others echoed the sentiment, saying that the deep-V neckline didn't match Erin's usual vibe and that she shouldn't try to mimic others in Hollywood. Still, others were quick to support the Mississippi native, with one fan writing, "When you're a young mom of two, plus working as much as she does, she deserves a little glamour and looks stunning in that dress, you go girl, Ben is one lucky fella." How sweet!
Drew Barrymore helped Erin Napier pick her CMAs dress
As Erin Napier revealed following her appearance at the 2022 CMAs, she didn't know where to begin with finding a fancy dress for the occasion. "We're not red carpet people," she wrote on Instagram. So, she ended up reaching out to Drew Barrymore, as you do. When the Napiers were guests on "The Drew Barrymore Show" in 2021, Erin told the host that she was one of her style icons, even inspiring her to try her now-signature pixie haircut. Barrymore's crop is also one of our favorite celebrity hair moments from the '90s, so we get it. After that, the two became friends, which is why she reached out to the "Scream" actor for assistance.
Clearly, Erin didn't find her dress borderline inappropriate. In fact, she wrote on the Insta post, "I've never felt so lovely and fancy and outside my norm." So, "Home Town" fans needn't worry, as it doesn't appear that Erin is going to swap her beloved Southern style anytime soon. Still, she clearly enjoyed playing dress-up on this occasion.
