Amal Clooney's Gorgeous Hair Transformation
We appreciate that when George Clooney, one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors of the '90s and early 2000s, settled down in 2014, he chose a partner with an enviable resumé to match her stunning looks. We'd be willing to wager bets that Amal Clooney's gorgeous hair also factored into the actor's attraction to the human rights lawyer. How could it not? Along with her fabulous sense of style –- check out Amal Clooney's stunning style transformation if you need proof -– her hair has been a topic of conversation since she hit the global stage as George's plus-one.
There may be options for transformative haircuts that bring youthful energy no matter your age, but Amal has stuck with her signature long style for as long as she's been a style icon. While she has made little tweaks along the way and experimented with a few style changes, her biggest transformation has been adding color to her deep dark tresses in recent years.
2013-2014: Amal Clooney's thick black hair gets a global introduction
After Amal Clooney (then Alamuddin) and George Clooney's relationship became public knowledge in 2013, paparazzi began tracking the beautiful barrister's every move, including when she left a restaurant in London in October 2013. One of the first things folks noticed was her gorgeous hair –- no wonder George was smitten.
Again, we got a glimpse of her luscious locks in June 2014 at a global summit in London. This time, fans could see how full and voluminous her hair was. In September of that year, the duo married in Venice, long before Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez returned to Italy's floating city for their nuptials 11 years later. For her wedding day, Amal kept to her signature look of this era, with the hair worn long with body and bend and a bit of curl at the bottom.
2015-2017: Amal Clooney experiments with extreme parts and a faux bob
Amal Clooney seems to be clued into the best way to part your hair based on your face shape, as the sharp angles of her bone structure are softened by the side part that she tends to favor. Her gorgeous features are big enough that they can handle the thick, cascading hair, which might overwhelm someone with small features. At the 2015 Met Gala, we saw a prime example of Amal wearing a deep side part.
In September 2017, three months after giving birth to twins Ella and Alexander, Amal likely gave some fans serious pause when she appeared at the Venice Film Festival with what looked like a bob. Had she cut her luscious locks? No, it was merely a pinned-under style that gave the illusion of a chop. While the look was a refreshing shift from her go-to style, it clearly didn't entice the lawyer to commit to a cut. She was back to her long hair immediately afterward.
2018-2021: Amal Clooney, royal wedding guest and red carpet stunner
In 2018, Amal Clooney had another notable stop on her gorgeous hair transformation train, and that was for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in Windsor, England. She enlisted hairdresser Miguel Martin Perez to create the beautiful style worn beneath her yellow hat, which coordinated perfectly with her canary-yellow outfit from Stella McCartney (and her hubby's tie and pocket square, we might add). Fans offered up plenty of praise to Perez for his work, with one writing on Instagram, "Got to be said she was definitely the best dressed. She looked stunning with a little help from you."
It's during this era that we saw Amal wear her hair with more curls, which is actually its natural state, as Perez explained to People at the time. For a premiere at the 2021 London Film Festival, she wore her thick hair flipped to a deep right side part, as a subtle change from previous years.
2022-Present: Amal Clooney's brunette hair gets highlighted
In 2022, we started to notice threads of gold throughout Amal Clooney's hair, including at that December's Kennedy Center honorees reception at the White House, where husband George Clooney was being honored. In a sparkly white Valentino couture gown, Amal made a bombshell statement with thick, haphazard curls draping down her bare shoulders, with the honey highlights adding a youthful brightness.
Fast-forward a few years to 2025, and her highlights were now prominent, including at the London Film Festival that October. Just days before, hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who also does her makeup, chopped more than half a foot off of Amal's hair. That may sound like a lot of length to go, but on her, it didn't amount to much — the chop still sat mid-chest. It just goes to show that Amal's hair transformations may be subtle, but she's definitely still experimenting.
