What Lisa Rinna's Lips Looked Like Before All The Extreme Filler

"Own it, baby!" Lisa Rinna has entered the pop culture chat once again thanks to her return to reality TV through Peacock's hit reality game show "The Traitors." The former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star is already generating plenty of buzz alongside fellow cast mates, from celebrity chef Kristen Kish to Olympic figure skater Tara Lipinski. But alongside all the game-show excitement, fans have also been revisiting just how dramatically Rinna's look has evolved over the years — especially the evolution of her lips, something Lisa Rinna, whose side-by-side photos make her plastic surgery quite obvious, is also well aware of.

It's no secret that Rinna's relationship with cosmetic enhancements has been complicated, and it all started in her 20s. In a 2010 interview with People, the reality-TV star revealed she had permanent silicone filler injected into her top lip after being inspired by Barbara Hershey's famously full pout in "Beaches." While she loved and enjoyed the results at the time, she ended up seeking treatment to reduce the filler more than a decade later after the silicone began migrating throughout her lips. Yes, even when they're permanent, there are options after realizing your lip fillers aren't what you expected. 

Despite having treatments to reduce the effects of the permanent fillers years ago, Rinna's lips in "The Traitors" and recent public appearances continue to appear noticeably fuller than they did previously. There's a clear contrast between the fuller and more heavily defined shape seen in recent years and the softer proportions from earlier in her career. 

Before the lip fillers, Lisa Rinna already had naturally full lips that were well proportioned to her facial features. Early photos of the reality star show a softly rounded upper lip, a defined Cupid's bow, and balanced volume all around. It beautifully complemented her expressive smile rather than overpowering any of her other features. In later public appearances, it's clear Rinna wanted her lips to be the star of the show. They have increasingly become one of the most visually prominent features of her look. And, Rinna isn't afraid to admit it.

In a 2022 interview with People, the iconic Beverly Hills "Real Housewives" alum humorously referred to herself as "the pioneer" of lip enhancements, and even added that her lips practically "have a career all their own." She also noted that she loved how cosmetic enhancements have become more acceptable by society compared to when she first started seeking out such procedures. Her remarks reflect a level of self-confidence and comfort in her own choices, even as she remains one of the celebs who look totally different without fillers when comparing earlier photos to her most recent appearances. 

From her more naturally full lips in her earlier days in showbiz to the bold, high-impact look she's most known for now, Rinna's had quite the evolution, and it's one that hasn't gone unnoticed. Even so, her willingness to fully embrace her appearance makes her a refreshing example of one of the celebrities who openly champions self-acceptance.
