Inappropriate Outfits At Political Events We'll Never Forget

We love a sassy outfit as much as the next person, and we're huge fans of ditching generic corporate wear. However, there's a time and place for everything, and overly brassy outfits don't belong at political events. To be clear, this has nothing to do with modesty culture and everything to do with being appropriate, respectful, and professional enough to place one's political message above the need to display disruptive personal style. This doesn't mean that everyone should dress in a certain way; it means that it's important to learn how to put a creative spin on corporate wear without being improper.

Unfortunately, not all politicians get this memo. Some routinely place so much focus on displaying their inner fashionista that they show up in out-of-place and unprofessional outfits. Beyond giving the impression that the politician has poor judgment, the media frenzy that typically follows usually overshadows their messages. This might not be an issue in other sectors, but with political events which affect the country's governance, it's a big deal.

Kimberly Guilfoyle misread fundraiser as fun night out

U.S. Ambassador Kimberly Guilfoyle has worn some of the most inappropriate outfits you could ever imagine, but none tops the dress she wore to a Mar-a-Lago function in March 2024. The event was meant to be a political fundraiser for an aspiring congressman, but judging by Guilfoyle's outfit, you wouldn't have guessed it. Beyond the insanely heavy makeup, the bust cut was extremely deep, and the mesh-like covering did little to conceal her breasts. The dress also had a slit that rode up past her mid-thigh and looked more like a club outfit than anything else.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders' stylist was out to get her

Unlike most other political women, Sarah Huckabee Sanders' most inappropriate outfits have less to do with her showing off her body, and more with her wearing outfits that are stylistically out of place. One of her worst offenses was in December 2022. At this point, Sanders was the governor-elect of Arkansas, a major feat, which she ruined by wearing an ill-fitting, too casual dress. Not only was it a major eyesore, but it did nothing to complement her figure. And more importantly, it cheapened the governor's post.

Lauren Boebert's pink dress was too short for a political conference

Lauren Boebert is another GOP member who consistently ignores the "conservative" tag the party was initially known for. Some of Lauren Boebert's outfits are too tight, while others are too short and give off the wrong vibe for the occasion. The outfit she wore in March 2023 was all of these wrong things at once. The congresswoman showed up at the Conservative Political Action Conference wearing a tight pink dress that was so short that she was one wrong move away from flashing the audience. Even with her crossed legs, we could still involuntarily see her upper thighs.

Pam Bondi focused too much on color and not enough on propriety

In 2016, Pam Bondi was the attorney general of Florida and still very much MAGA. When then-candidate Donald Trump began campaigning in the state, we were fully expecting her to show up in support. What we weren't expecting was such a high slit on her skirt, especially since the rest of her outfit was so coordinated. Bondi's insistence on matching the flag clearly swayed her decision on what was appropriate for a political event. The slit not only rode up to the top of her thigh, but it was clear that if she took too big a step, she'd be showing even more.

Lauren Sánchez's inauguration outfit showed off her bra

Unlike many of the other women on this list, Lauren Sánchez did not initially have a background in politics. However, it's common knowledge that when a person marries someone who is frequently in political circles, certain levels of decorum are expected. Sánchez did not get this memo. She showed up to Donald Trump's inauguration in a white blazer with nothing underneath except a white lacy bra. Not only was this publicly slammed as immensely inappropriate, but it also, understandably, drew accusations of attention-seeking.

Usha Vance's rally outfit was too casual

SLOTUS Usha Vance has a stunning figure, but she's known for wearing outfits that seem to lack effort. And while a laid-back look isn't always inappropriate, in certain cases, such a look just gives the impression that the event isn't of high importance to you. This is exactly why Usha's outfit at a July 2024 rally in Ohio was inappropriate. She wore dull pants paired with an even duller blouse and called it a day. Standing beside JD Vance and the supporters holding placards, Usha looked sorely underdressed and out of place.

Kaitlan Collins' outfit at the White House Correspondents' dinner was too revealing

CNN journalist and reporter Kaitlan Collins is usually nicely dressed, but she's not immune to the occasional slip-up. However, most of Kaitlan Collins' inappropriate outfits are usually worn at non-political events — except for the yellow dress she wore to the White House Correspondents' dinner in 2022. While the length was appropriate, the low-cut design, as well as her messy hair, were very out of place for the event. The bodice exposed too much cleavage, and the hair was too casual. It was certainly not a proper look.
