Dylan Dreyer Outfits That Were Questionable For Morning Television

It seems that audiences have come to expect certain unspoken rules with morning television, including that the hosts should look pulled-together wearing outfits that are kept in respectable bounds. That means nothing too showy, too revealing, or too controversial. But sometimes a.m. TV stars toe the line; for example, Jenna Bush Hager's outfits that could be considered inappropriate for morning television.

Dylan Dreyer, who's been a meteorologist with NBC News since 2012, and currently co-hosts the third hour of the "Today" show is one who rarely puts a foot wrong. Her outfits often feature pops of color, sporty elements like collared polo shirts, and feminine blouses. If anything, we'd say she's great at offering variety in her fashion choices, which must be difficult when you're in millions of American homes on a daily basis. But in a few instances, Dreyer has worn outfits that could be considered a bit questionable for the morning TV slot.

In a June 2024 clip from "Today" posted to TikTok, fans had a lot to say about Dylan Dreyer's outfit worn as she delivered the weather report. For the taping, she wore a pretty three-quarter-sleeve floral blouse paired with a tight-fitting leather miniskirt. Of the nearly 900 comments on the TikTok post (as of this writing), mostly all were from men commenting on her hotness, her skirt, and her derrière. Apparently, not a lot of them were tuned into the forecast for the weather.

From a style perspective, Dreyer nailed how to combine leather with feminine silhouettes to create a perfectly balanced and trendy outfit. But from an appropriateness standpoint, it might be another story. After all, if an outfit is this distracting to the point where Reddit boards are set up to discuss how you look in leather skirts, then maybe it isn't quite right. That being said, her tight skirts may be attracting some new viewers to the program, so maybe it's a win after all. 

Overall, Dylan Dreyer has nailed business-casual dressing. She adds professional pieces with a touch of whimsy or playfulness, like the blouse she wore on "Today" in September 2023, when Kelly Clarkson was a guest. This Forever 21 piece, which she's worn more than once on the show, has a leopard-head print on it that's playful but still conservative enough for morning television.

What may have been a bit more questionable, however, was the blue skirt she paired with the blouse. The faux wrap-style skirt showed quite a bit of thigh and was close to giving viewers gathered at Rockefeller Center a whole lotta leg if she took one misstep. Wouldn't a slightly longer option have been a safer bet? Once again, fans don't seem deterred by her fashion choices — some call her the most stylish host on the show.

Dylan Dreyer has been very open about many parts of her life, including her three sons, her 2025 divorce, and her eating and workout routines. Fans often ask Dreyer to share more about how she stays fit. We know from her Instagram posts that she's an active golfer, is a fan of cardio and sculpting workouts, and is passionate about eating well.

So we don't blame Dreyer for showing some hard-earned toned abs, but is her morning show the best venue for it? She seemed to think so, as she wore a slightly cropped, belly-baring top paired with a denim skirt with a center thigh-high slit when LL Cool J appeared on "Today" in September 2024. If Dreyer's Instagram comments are anything to go by, fans were not offended in the least by her look; in fact they wanted to know where it was from. No word on the skirt, but Dreyer confirmed that the woven top was from Travis Mathew. While Dreyer's post from the show had a bit of praise for LL Cool J, the most feedback was about Dreyer's look from the day.
