Lindsey Vonn's Inappropriate Outfit At The 2025 ESPY Awards Left Little To The Imagination

Lindsey Vonn's skin-baring dress successfully earned her a spot on our list of the worst-dressed celebs at the 2025 ESPY Awards. The Olympic gold medalist opted for a sultry strapless Elisabetta Franchi dress that featured a daring slit that went all the way up to her torso and gave a cheeky peek at her black thong. There's no denying that Vonn's dress made for a head-turning red-carpet moment and shone a light on her killer arms and legs in the best way. However, the outfit would have still accomplished that and looked far more appropriate for the ceremony with a slit that ended around her mid-thigh.

Unfortunately, the skier apparently learned the perils of wearing a risqué dress on the red carpet as a strong gust of wind nearly revealed even more skin than she would have liked. Thankfully, Vonn's sister stepped in front of the cameras to prevent them from catching a glimpse of the impending wardrobe malfunction. However, the athlete ultimately seemed to have no regrets about her outfit choice, as she took to Instagram to share snaps of herself in her 2025 ESPYs red-carpet dress. 

"Strong and feminine... Doesn't have to be one or the other. We can be both ... just be you," she wrote in the caption. "And no.... I didn't skip leg day." For the actual ceremony, Vonn traded the inappropriate ensemble for a silver fringe dress with a deep neckline, which she also shared on Instagram. Admittedly, her second outfit revealed quite a bit of skin, too, with its sheer bottom and backless finish. However, the shimmery fringes helped balance it all out.

Lindsey Vonn's 2025 ESPYs red-carpet number gave us déjà vu because she had worn a similarly skin-revealing outfit to the previous year's ceremony. The Olympic skier's stunning one-sleeved yellow gown essentially put all of her side profile on full display, save for a little ruching around her torso. Even her older outfit had landed her on the list of the worst-dressed celebrities at the 2024 ESPYs because of the dangerously high slit, which was not only a tad bit inappropriate for the event but also seemed like a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. Moreover, the asymmetrical cuts in the dress made it seem far too busy. Notably, Vonn's penchant for eye-catching outfits also earned a spot as one of our worst-dressed celebrities at the 2024 Super Bowl. 

Although her bold outfit choices can give the impression that she has all the confidence in the world, that actually isn't the case. During an October 2016 appearance on "Today," the skier got candid about her feelings during carpet appearances, confessing, "I'm really confident on the mountain, but I haven't really felt like I fit in so much on the red carpets." She continued, "I'm just not your typical body type, so I have insecurities. I'm very self-conscious." 

However, by October 2024, it seemed that her self-confidence had improved. "We don't need to fit into anyone's box," she captioned an Instagram post that showed her in a swimsuit. "Success doesn't have a certain 'look,' and there's no one way to be a strong, capable woman." And that's exactly why she manages to stun even in the most inappropriate outfits.
