What Usha Vance Looks Like Makeup-Free
With her words and actions, Usha Vance has made it abundantly clear that she will not be partaking in the infamous Republican makeup trend to fit in with the rest of her peers in Donald Trump's inner circle. Even when SLOTUS attends major events, like the president's inauguration ceremony in January 2025, she opted for a more understated makeup look instead of getting all glammed up.

So, when we look at a makeup-free snap of Usha that JD Vance shared to X (formerly Twitter) in June 2022, there doesn't appear to be a drastic difference — and it's all thanks to the fact that Usha has nailed the no-makeup makeup look like a pro. The former lawyer's bare-faced look from her family hangout looks mostly similar to her public appearances because she probably opts for a light coverage foundation that doesn't give her an airbrushed look when she's in front of a camera. The only major absences are a soft-colored lipstick and the natural flush that comes with her blush.
Notably, during an April 2025 chat with The Free Press, Usha couldn't help but laugh at the idea of her going blonde to fit in with the other women in MAGA circles. After stating she believed that the Republican-favorite hair color wouldn't suit her, Usha said, "For what it's worth, my reception into this world — and I'm not from a particularly wealthy background, not from a very fashion-oriented background personally or professionally — has been really positive. People don't seem to care all that much what I look like." Unsurprisingly, Usha has stayed true to herself with her makeup, hair, and outfit choices.
Usha Vance probably feels most confident when she is bare-faced
There could be several reasons why Usha Vance chooses to go against the grain with her minimal makeup looks. For one, she has made it abundantly clear that her family remains her top priority while JD Vance takes on the duties of vice president. So, there's a chance that skipping an over-the-top makeup routine allows her to spend more time with her kids before she has to run off on some second lady duties.
Moreover, Usha hasn't really been in the Trump family circle for quite as long as her peers. So, while she might recognize that her simple makeup and outfit choices don't fit in with the rest of the crowd, she is probably more inclined to stay true to the version of herself that she feels more comfortable in. Although Usha Vance has had quite the style transformation since JD Vance took up politics, it hasn't been as drastic as that of other women who are considered Donald Trump's peers.
During her interview with The Free Press, Usha revealed how her style had evolved after JD rose to prominence, admitting, "I had the wardrobe of a person with three children who likes to do things outdoors, who has a dog, who doesn't like things to be too precious." She added, "And then, a switch flipped, and it's not like it came with a whole new wardrobe and stylist and everything." So, it seems that Usha simply elevated her simple makeup and outfit choices instead of ditching them altogether. While that decision has led to some of Usha's most forgettable fashion moments, it still seems to be working out for her just fine.
