In September 2024, the South Carolina congresswoman took to X (formerly Twitter), to share a video of herself walking down the halls of Capitol Hill as she discussed her upcoming political plans. However, most netizens found it difficult to focus on the content of the video because their thoughts were fixated on why Mace had chosen to wear such an inappropriate dress to work.
For starters, the figure-hugging blue lace dress had a cinch around the waist that was clearly intended to highlight the chest area. Moreover, the skin-colored fabric underneath only made the ensemble choice more eyebrow-raising. Confusingly, Mace also paired the dress with two golden chains and a smoky eye, which further cemented the idea that she had stopped by Capitol Hill on her way to the club.
Her outfit ultimately compelled one commenter on X to write, "I'm not sure a lacey see-through top layer is a good idea with a flesh colored underlayer for a congresswoman." Another X user deemed the dress "evening wear." Meanwhile, someone else wondered if the South Carolina politician had only posted a video of herself on that day to "show off" her dress to the world. Unfortunately, that wasn't the last time that Mace's outfit choices for the workplace left people scratching their heads.

On a December 2024 workday, Nancy Mace donned a bright pink dress that was cinched around the waist with a chunky belt and pleated at the bottom. The ill-fitting dress was not only a tad bit too short for the workplace, but also came with a slit around the knee that put Mace's legs on display, adding to its inappropriateness. And Mace's cowboy boots took the outfit in a completely different direction, making her seem like she was about to hit the rodeo rather than attend important meetings. At this point, it's probably best if Mace, Kristi Noem, and other politicians who are trying to make cowboy boots business casual accept defeat.

The politician chose a figure-hugging black dress with leather detailing on the sides and the back. While Mace may have wanted to show off her toned legs in the dress, she probably didn't intend to show as much skin as she did when she sat down.
To send a clear message of just how important voting on the "Big Beautiful Bill" was to her, Mace walked into Capitol Hill in July 2025 wearing white pajamas with pink hearts on them. Granted, the South Carolina congresswoman had made an overnight road trip to D.C. to make it in time for the important vote. However, it's a little hard to believe that Mace didn't have a few minutes to spare to throw on an appropriate outfit before setting foot in her workplace.
