Malia and Sasha Obama's down-to-earth demeanor and low-key lives can easily make people forget that their parents are worth around $70 million, as of 2025 (via Yahoo! Finance). In addition to enjoying the comforts that come with that stunning number, Malia also gets the satisfaction of spending the money she earned through her work as a writer, director, and production assistant over the years. 

As for the younger Obama sister, Sasha worked as a casting interviewer for a documentary TV series called "Couples Therapy" in 2024 before reportedly turning her focus to her post-graduate education (via Hello!). Unlike the majority of people in their shoes, Malia and Sasha have the privilege of making some luxurious purchases while they find their footing in the expensive city of Los Angeles. Malia Obama's stunning style transformation was apparent when she donned a Vivienne Westwood outfit that came with a $3,268 price tag while attending the Deauville American Film Festival in September 2024. 

On regular days, Malia has been spotted carrying a $180 Diemm bag and wearing a $425 Alexander Wang shirt dress. She even wore a pair of $300 lounge pants from J Kim while she was out and about. The Obama sisters seem to be big on the quiet luxury trend, which became outdated in 2025, because Sasha was also photographed casually carrying a highly sought-after $275 Telfar bag around her college campus. Meanwhile, a $395 Mansur Gavriel bucket bag rested on her lap when she was on a date in Paris with her now ex-boyfriend, Rory Farquharson, in 2018. During Sasha Obama's stunning style transformation, she has also been spotted wearing limited edition sneakers from Nike and Ben & Jerry's collaboration that were being resold for at least $1,400, and $720 Bottega Veneta sunglasses.

According to ABC News, when Malia and Sasha Obama were 10 and 7 years old, respectively, the White House staff created a scavenger hunt to help them learn about the historic building that would become their home over the next eight years. Little did they know, the last door in the hunt would lead them straight to their favorite band, the Jonas Brothers. 

Their screams of joy probably only grew louder when they realized that they would get to enjoy a private concert from the boy band with only about 50 other children. If all of that wasn't cool enough already, the two sisters also got to take home a signed guitar from the band. For a 2011 Christmas celebration, Malia and Sasha got to get up on stage with Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, and Victoria Justice. The former first daughters had an equally magical experience with the late Queen Elizabeth II when they were younger. 

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Barack Obama fondly recalled how the monarch had personally invited his wife, Michelle Obama, and their daughters for tea. The little girls probably also got to feel like real royalty when they took a ride around Buckingham Palace in Elizabeth's golden carriage. After growing into adults, they got to experience a different aspect of celebrity life, as they partied with Drake in 2023 and celebrated Halloween 2024 with Billie Eilish. Although Malia and Sasha seem to be thriving in Los Angeles, they know they have their parents' multimillion-dollar homes in Chicago, Hawaii, and Martha's Vineyard to return to.
