The Biggest Fashion Disasters At The 2026 BAFTA Awards
While the American award season took a couple of weeks off, England rolled out the red carpet to Hollywood's greatest. The BAFTA Awards, otherwise known as the British Academy Film Awards, took place on February 22, 2026. Movie stars gathered to honor achievements on the big screen but not before showing off their fashion choices for the big night. A-listers like Emma Stone, Kerry Washington, and Kate Hudson proved their star quality with stunning gowns while others didn't achieve the same success with their wardrobe.
Overall, this year's red carpet was pretty understated with most of the attendees choosing to highlight classic fashions that have never gone out of style. Many ladies decided to put together the perfect monochromatic outfit with dresses in solid colors without many straying from an A-line silhouette. That said, the ones that chose to experiment with bigger, unconventional fashions stood out like a sore thumb. They made quite the spectacle and not in the most flattering way, whether it was an overtly sexy outfit, a misguided garment choice, or an overwhelming shape. Young newcomers like Odessa A'zion and Audrey Nuna fumbled while even established stars like Maya Rudolph made style mistakes. Take a look at the outfits that had us scratching our heads in confusion.
Maya Rudolph's black-and-white flower dress was unflattering
This one was painful to see as Maya Rudolph carries herself with such grace. Rudolph's black-and-white dress looked fine on the top, but the skirt was where it fell apart. A sash of white flowers lined in black draped down the hips in an asymmetrical fashion over a frumpy white skirt and onto the floor. One thing about white fabric is that it's hard not to notice when it's imperfect. Case in point: this sloppy hemline. The matching clogs didn't help and should've been switched out for something less clunky.
Erin Doherty could've held dinner plates on her skirt
Talk about maximalism! "Adolescence" star Erin Doherty has worn oversized skirts before. In fact, a bubble accordion skirt landed her on our worst-dressed celebs at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards list. But her navy gown at the BAFTAs takes the cake. Fabric protruded out from her hips to at least twice her petite size. While the texture of the skirt was pleasing, the shape was comically wide. What was clearly meant to be the focal point of the outfit completely outshined Doherty herself. The topsy-turvy skirt could've poked someone's eye out!
Odessa A'zion didn't get the memo to dress with elegance
It'd be a lie to say that Odessa A'zion didn't look great in this dress. But where this outfit failed is in its tone. The BAFTAs are known for having a classy dress code as even British royalty like Princess of Wales Kate Middleton attended this year's ceremony. To see what is basically a nightgown that barely covers A'zion's body on the red carpet ... let's just say, it didn't feel suitable for this formal event. Count this among the most inappropriate outfits in BAFTA Awards history.
Audrey Nuna looked uncomfortable at the 2026 BAFTAs
Audrey Nuna of "KPop Demon Hunters" fame has certainly made the 2026 award season her own by walking red carpets in huge, unconventional outfits. But her wardrobe at the BAFTAs is far too much. The enormous skirt with a dog printed on it may be cute for someone shopping at Baby Gap, but not for an award-show attendee. The red-and-blue outline along Nuna's sweater was jarring, as were the gloves she accessorized with rings. It was obvious how uncomfortable she looked wearing the massive outfit.
Milly Alcock gave off vampire vibes with her random neck choker
Australian actor and newest "Supergirl" Milly Alcock proved how one incorrect piece of wardrobe can ruin an entire look. She showed up in a chic and sexy black suit that could've easily been a fashion win on its own. But Alcock added an accessory that was completely unnecessary: a white corset neck choker. Its massive size threw off the balance of the outfit, cheapening it with a dingy white fabric. Paired with the pointed collar of the blazer, Alcock's attempt to add edge fell flat.
Jessie Ware wore grandma's couch to the BAFTAs
British singer Jessie Ware donned an interesting (and ugly) fabric on her floor-length gown. The long-sleeve garment was unmissable with its bright color and bold pattern. Bursts of yellow and orange were overwhelming, and almost blinding. But the worst part of this dress was that the design looked much too old-fashioned. It resembled unappealing fabrics that were popular in the 1970s and should be left in the past. Ware's hair and makeup were picture perfect, but it's hard for eyes not to go directly to the loud colors and outdated visual.
