5 Celebs Who Have Been Saddled With 'Ozempic Neck' After Their Weight Loss
Every other day, a celebrity debuts their dramatic transformation and sparks an online discourse about the use of weight-loss drugs. As soon as the first images of a transformed A-lister hit the internet, people begin to speculate that they have developed Ozempic face, which is one of the many risks of the diabetes drug. The other half of the internet quickly defends the celebrity in question by stating that their choices are nobody else's business or insisting that their transformation was natural.
However, if there's one thing that both sides can agree on, it's that many celebrities look completely different these days after using weight-loss medications like Ozempic. And even experts find the phenomenon hard to deny. In a 2025 YouTube video, facial plastic surgeon Dr. Donald B. Yoo explained that a person's face might look different after taking diabetes drugs because the rapid weight loss they induce could make the signs of facial aging more pronounced. Dr. Yoo also offered insight into the phenomenon known as Ozempic neck, explaining, "In the neck, where the skin is already thinner, [rapid weight loss] can expose things like the platysma."
The facial plastic surgeon added, "And if your platysma, that muscle along the neck, is sagging, then that sagging is going to show right away." People who started taking the weight-loss drug after entering their 40s are generally more likely to experience Ozempic neck since their skin tautness is already experiencing a natural decline. With all this information, it's a little hard to ignore that many celebrities appear to have developed Ozempic neck.
Sharon Osbourne admittedly got more than what she bargained for with Ozempic
During a November 2023 appearance on "Good Morning Britain," Sharon Osbourne confirmed that she had taken Ozempic to achieve her weight-loss transformation. The reality-TV star explained that her decision to use the diabetes-management drug stemmed from being "fed up" with constant weight fluctuations over the years. Meanwhile, in a November 2023 interview with the Daily Mail, Osbourne stated that she remained completely unbothered by how the internet perceived her weight loss. However, she also admitted that her self-image struggled after she lost 42 pounds in only four months. "I'm too gaunt and I can't put any weight on," the TV personality shared. "I want to, because I feel I'm too skinny. I'm under 100 pounds and I don't want to be."
Based on photos of Sharon from 2016 and 2025, it's obvious that she lost a significant amount of fullness from around her neck due to her Ozempic use. During an April 2024 appearance on the "Howie Mandel Does Stuff" podcast, Osbourne admitted that she had gone "too far" with Ozempic and continued to use it even after she achieved her goal weight. She believed that the excessive use may have interfered with her metabolism and prevented her from putting on weight even after she had sworn off the diabetes management drug.
Despite her own issues with Ozempic, Osbourne told "Good Morning Britain" hosts that she still believes the diabetes drug was a viable option for fully grown adults who could fully understand its caveats. However, she also believes that the younger generation was better off focusing on cultivating healthy eating habits to achieve their goals.
Rosie O'Donnell is still shocked by her Mounjaro weight loss
In a January 2023 TikTok, Rosie O'Donnell revealed that her doctor had recommended she start taking Mounjaro for her diabetes. Thanks to the medication and her own efforts, the comedian had lost 10 pounds over the holiday season. O'Donnell went on to explain that she had also limited her sugar intake and tried her best to make water her sole drink of choice. In February 2024, O'Donnell took to Instagram to share a side-by-side comparison showcasing the facial volume loss she had experienced after being on Mounjaro for a year.
Meanwhile, in a March 2025 TikTok, O'Donnell revealed that her decision to move to Ireland had also inadvertently aided her weight loss because she had to cook her own meals after relying on a chef for two years. "The Flintstones" actor admitted that she found it "completely shocking" how she could fit into large-size clothing after wearing plus-size clothing for the majority of her life. On a similar note, O'Donnell recalled how she had gone shopping in Ireland and found a pair of pants that fit perfectly and only later realized that they were much smaller than the size she wore in America.
Time apparently didn't help O'Donnell come to terms with her transformation either. In May 2025, she shared two Instagram posts admitting that she had a hard time believing that she was the person in the photos. Both photos had the Mounjaro hashtag. O'Donnell's transformation is more pronounced in the side-by-side photos from 2019 and 2025, which also show that the loss of fullness in her neck made her skin less taut.
Tori Spelling tried both Ozempic and Mounjaro
During an April 2024 episode of the "misSPELLING" podcast, Tori Spelling shared that she tried just about every trick in the book to lose weight after welcoming her fifth child in 2017. The "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum said that her doctor told her that her efforts didn't come to fruition because she was 43 when she gave birth. At one point, she had also tried taking Ozempic, but it had failed to work its wonders on her.
The complete transformation of Tori Spelling only happened when she abided by her doctor's recommendation and started taking Mounjaro and hormonal-regulation medication. Spelling also shared that she had stopped taking the diabetes drug around the end of January 2024 because she had achieved her goal weight. Looking at side-by-side photos of Spelling from 2021 and 2025, it seems that she lost a considerable amount of weight around her neck. The loss of volume in the area has given way to a more pronounced jawline and also made her neck muscles more visible. However, the biggest change seems to be in Spelling's soaring confidence.
It's worth noting that in a 2009 People interview, the "Scary Movie 2" actor admitted that the natural weight gain from her first two pregnancies took a toll on her self-esteem. "I knew as soon as I left the house a week, even two weeks after giving birth, [to her second daughter Stella] people are going to take pictures and scrutinize," she shared. Back then, her plight was only worsened by the media speculating on the reasons for her weight loss. However, by 2024, she became confident enough to say that she felt zero shame about losing weight through Mounjaro.
Kathy Bates believes that Ozempic only deserves some of the credit for her weight loss
During an October 2024 interview with People, Kathy Bates shared that she lost 80 pounds over the course of seven years purely due to her own efforts. According to the "Titanic" actor, Ozempic only helped her through the final 20-pound stretch of her weight-loss journey. "There's been a lot of talk that I just was able to do this because of Ozempic," the Oscar winner shared. "But I have to impress upon people out there that this was hard work for me, especially during the pandemic."
Bates explained that she started to seriously focus on her health after learning that she had type 2 diabetes in 2017. The diagnosis was particularly scary for Bates because she had watched her family struggle with diabetes. After the Oscar winner realized she needed to make a change, she decided to focus on eating more nutrient-dense food, reducing emotional eating, and listening to her body's cues to stop eating when she was full.
Given all the hard work Bates put into her transformation, it's unsurprising that she didn't mince her words while addressing her critics in a September 2025 Variety interview. "People say, 'Well, it was the Ozempic.' F*** you, it was the Ozempic! It took me years to do this." Looking at photos of Bates from 2015 and 2025, it's obvious that her weight loss was a gradual process and not the overnight fix that is typically expected with Ozempic. However, Ozempic does seem to be responsible for a significant loss of volume around the neck since that change only began to appear around 2023.
Whoopi Goldberg was prompted to go on a weight-loss journey after an awkward moment
During a March 2024 episode of "The View," Whoopi Goldberg revealed that steroids and other medical weight-loss solutions hadn't helped her quite as much as Mounjaro. After asserting that she hadn't gone on a weight-loss journey to appease her critics, the talk-show host said, "You have to take responsibility for yourself and see what's going on with your body" (via E! News). "You hit a certain age and everything falls to the ground. You just pick it up, put it over the back and keep it moving."
When Goldberg appeared on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" in May 2024, she shared that she was compelled to do some self reflection after someone mistakenly thought that she was wearing a "fat suit" in her 2022 movie "Till." The awkward intrusion ultimately brought Goldberg to the realization that she weighed 300 pounds and needed to make a change. Although the celebrity who proudly shows off her gray hair didn't get into the specifics of how many pounds she shed after taking the diabetes drug, she said that it was about the weight of "two people."
"The Sister Act" star's rapid weight loss becomes more obvious when we look at how pronounced her neck muscles seem in photos from 2026 in comparison to pictures from 2017. The weight loss drug and natural aging have also caused her to lose some elasticity in the skin around her neck. However, Goldberg undoubtedly seems to be feeling her best, and that's more important than everything else.
