Rare Times We've Seen MAGA Ladies In Casual Clothes

More often than not, political associations tend to carry specific looks. For the Republican women in the upper echelons of Donald Trump's circle, that aesthetic generally involves outfits that are glamorous and expensive. Tailored midi dresses, power pantsuits, and corporate-coded outerwear often make up the style du jour, and serve as the perfect accompaniment to the beat faces and glossy hair extensions that are also prevalent in these circles. But nobody can wear show-stopping dresses and Instagram-ready matching sets 100% of the time, even if you are the first daughter.

Blink and you'll miss them, but there are times when even the most well-dressed MAGA ladies tone it down. Whether they're vacationing off American soil, spending summers by the beach, or simply hanging out with family rather than in the West Wing, casual outfits do make appearances in the rotations every now and then.

Some women in the GOP are more comfortable going casual than others; in the complete transformation of Kimberly Guilfoyle, we've only seen her in relaxed garb a handful of times. The same goes for Ivanka Trump, whose most head-turning looks of 2025 did not feature a single low-key option. But then you have Usha Vance, whose subdued, quiet wardrobe suggests that she would probably ditch the glamorous ensembles more often if she could. Even within the MAGA-verse, everyone's different, and individual tastes also lend themselves to different takes on casual clothes. For women like Ivanka, sportswear is the ideal relaxed 'fit, while Erika Kirk and Usha seem to prefer an off-duty look built around jeans (even if Usha Vance's style has transformed since JD took up politics). If nothing else, these laidback looks demonstrate that looking beautiful doesn't always require excessive effort, and there are still strategic ways to rock the casual aesthetic like a boss.

Kristi Noem kicks back in sweats

As the former secretary of homeland security, Kristi Noem almost always goes for a super-polished look when she appears in public. Well, it's either that or country chic (Kristi Noem's cowboy hat obsession is showing no signs of slowing down). But in June 2025, Instagram users got a rare glimpse of the former South Dakota governor in a completely relaxed look consisting of sweats and sneakers. Her hair was also in a messy top knot, so this would have been a totally fuss-free look if it weren't for her go-to glam still doing its thing.

Ivanka Trump twins with Jared Kushner in baseball caps

Ivanka Trump's social media is a smorgasbord of chic, high-end looks that could have been air-lifted from the runways of fashion week. But every now and then, she breaks up the fashion-forward aesthetic for something more laidback. In July 2024, she shared a photo that showed her twinning with her husband, Jared Kushner. The spouses were in casual sportswear, with Ivanka rocking mint bike shorts, a black hoodie, and a baseball cap paired with white sneakers. Compared to Ivanka's other sporty 'fits, which usually feature carefully curated gym sets, this was giving "not a care in the world."

Tiffany Trump gets desert-ready

In February 2026, Tiffany Trump — Donald Trump's youngest daughter — traveled to Egypt with her husband Michael Boulos, son Alexander, and mom Marla Maples in tow. Naturally, the environment called for a less glamorous getup than she usually goes for, and she looked every bit the part posing in front of the pyramids in a plain white tee and beige cargo pants. Her addition of a thin belt helped to make the look a little more intentional, proving that down-to-earth dressing can always land with the right accessories. She also had a brown cardigan on hand to ward off those desert winds.

Lara Trump tones down her aesthetic in Norway

There might be a pattern here: Women in the MAGA-verse seem to shed their usual sophisticated formalwear and corporate-coded sets when traveling. In July 2023, Lara and Eric Trump escaped to Norway, and they left behind their black-tie pieces. While experiencing the mesmerizing midnight sun in the Lyngenfjord region, Lara went for light-wash skinny jeans, a skin-tight white crop top, and a plaid open shirt in a red, blue, and white palette. The color scheme was perfect for summer, and since skinny jeans rose to popularity again that year, Lara may have been right on trend with her denim.

Kimberly Guilfoyle swaps her glam dresses for all-black sportswear

The women of the GOP ditch their glamorous aesthetics to varying degrees, but one who almost always sticks to heels, dresses, and power suits no matter what is U.S. ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle. So we were collectively shocked to spot her in all-black sportswear in November 2024. She rocked the casual look on a trip to North Carolina to assist with Hurricane Helene relief. Given the context, the monochrome look was definitely called for.

Karoline Leavitt goes coastal-coded in Palm Beach

We're used to seeing White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt in corporate sets and ball gowns, but she often takes to Instagram to let fans know that she absolutely has a wardrobe outside of work. In May 2025, she went for a coastal-inspired look for a trip to Palm Beach, Florida, with husband Nicholas Riccio and son Rocco. White jeans are the ultimate warm-weather piece, as is the pale-blue tone of her cardigan. Summer casual seems to be a theme for Leavitt, since she shared another Instagram photo in August 2023 which showed her in a summery white mesh top and casual jeans.

Cuddles mean a more casual look for Margo Martin

Like Karoline Leavitt, Margo Martin is usually in workplace-appropriate looks. As the special assistant and communications advisor to Donald Trump, she's often spotted around the West Wing in slacks, blazers, and quiet-luxury-approved trenches. But in her downtime, which is often spent hanging out with the little ones, she goes for a much more relaxed look. In one November Instagram photo dump that was posted in December 2024, Margo was seen in two casual 'fits while cuddling a baby: jeans and a fall-esque beige cardigan, and black leggings, sneakers, and a dark-toned sherpa coat.

Erika Kirk had a different look before she was globally famous

When we think of Erika Kirk's look today, our minds jump to sequins, floor-length dresses, bold blazers, and pageant-ready hair. But back in February 2019, two years before she married Charlie Kirk, she was embracing a very different vibe. Appearing on Instagram, she wore black skinny jeans with knee rips — tell us it was the 2010s without telling us — and an orange sweater with a pharaoh motif. Though she looks starkly different from the Turning Point USA CEO she is today, the studded boots perhaps hint at the glitzy style changes that were to come.

Usha Vance's SLOTUS style is distinct from her peers

Despite being the second lady, Usha Vance's style couldn't be more different from Melania Trump's. Repeatedly proving that she wants to be judged for her words and actions rather than her wardrobe, Usha Vance's aesthetic is relatively carefree, and that makes her stand out in MAGA land. We saw this refreshing approach to dressing in full force in September 2024, when Usha accompanied JD Vance to Greenville, North Carolina, as part of the campaign trail. This might not have been one of Usha Vance's best outfits so far, but it does tell the world that she's confident in herself without a costume to hide behind.

Mom-mode Lauren Boebert is more casual

Lauren Boebert's style is certainly distinct. She has the usual Republican elements, from the cowboy boots to the heavy makeup application. But she often prefers to take it one step further, accessorizing with gun holsters and going for bold pink tones rather than the usual neutral palettes of the GOP. She brought the drama right down in a November 2024 Instagram snap with her sons, in which she went for low-key light-wash jeans and a black wintry top. Inoffensive and weather-ready, this definitely wasn't one of Lauren Boebert's most inappropriate outfits yet.
