Before & After Pics Of Selena Gomez's Face Don't Help The Ozempic Rumors

According to some people on the internet, Selena Gomez is one of the many celebrities who look totally different after using weight-loss medications like Ozempic. Looking at side-by-side photos of the "Only Murders in the Building" star from 2023 and 2025, she appears to have lost some fullness in her jaw and cheeks. Gomez's neck muscles also seem to have gotten more pronounced in the 2025 photo. After witnessing her transformation, many social media users wasted no time in saying that she had developed Ozempic face, which is one of the many side effects of the diabetes drug.

One commenter on X wondered why people like Gomez, who are a part of the younger generation, resorted to taking GLP-1 medication instead of achieving their weight loss goals through nutrition and exercise. Another person may have been rolling their eyes as they snarked, "Ozempic works. We get it."

However, many of these critics appeared to have ignored Gomez's explanation for the changes in her body. In a February 2023 TikTok livestream, the "Calm Down" hitmaker shared that her body went through natural changes as she took medication for Lupus, an autoimmune disease that she was diagnosed with in 2013. "When I'm taking it, I tend to hold a lot of water weight, and that happens very normally. And then when I'm off of it, I tend to kind of lose weight," Gomez shared, per Page Six. Gomez admitted that although she didn't always feel like her best self, she ultimately wanted nothing more than to be healthy.

Selena Gomez has endured negative comments about her body

During a September 2025 interview with Allure, Selena Gomez made a candid confession, saying, "I've dealt with a lot of weight issues in my life, and that's something I'm very sensitive to." The "Who Says" singer then recalled how a comment labeling her "fat" had gotten under her skin. It wasn't until she processed her feelings using the techniques she had learned through dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) that she realized that comment triggered her because it brought up feelings from the time she had gained weight due to her medical conditions. Sadly, Gomez has also been forced to push back against the internet's comments about her body in the past.

While attending a premiere event for "Emilia Pérez" in September 2024, the "Wizards of Waverly Place" alum posed with her hands on her stomach for a few snaps. That simple action led people to speculate that she was concealing her body. Soon enough, Gomez shared a TikTok comment admitting that the speculation made her "sick," and further divulged that she had SEBO, a condition that could cause bloating (via TMZ).

During a March 2025 appearance on the "On Purpose with Jay Shetty" podcast, the Rare Beauty founder said that the relentless comments about her weight had made her "a tad bitter." Although Gomez had occasionally deleted the social media apps from her phone and ignored the comments to protect her peace, she would still come across hate. She has somehow managed to stay confident through it all, and the internet also had a lot to say about the stunning style transformation of Selena Gomez.
